Proverbs 3:1-8 KJV
(1) My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
(2) For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
(3) Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
(4) So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
(5) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
(6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
(7) Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
(8) It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Our world we are taught to trust in ourselves and our family and friends. We are taught not to trust a stranger, or anyone that is enemy. Israel had safe guards of how long you had to be part of their tribe before they would allow you to be in the inner courts of the sanctuary. Ten generations had to come to pass. Today If we waited that long the tenth generation would never see the inner courts of the church. Some might wonder why states laws and nations laws are not stricter on how many generation has to be in America before enter politics. What price do we sell our freedom. The human nature to trust someone unless they are found unworthy to be trusted is good, but it short lived when we think of Judas Iscariot or benedict Arnold. There are not enough safeguards in our world to protect not even our nation or our town and counties. We might think it is simple to advocate trust because it can be build on friendship and a test of time.

Our faith in God might begin for some as a child, yet the learning to trust and depend on God is not always beginning with salvation. For to begin to take God at His word one has to learn to trust and not only believe. Devil believes but he does not put his trust in God. He does not seek God for a solution. To learn to trust in God is to learn not to trust in your own wisdom or knowledge. It is to trust in God when all hope is gone, all rational makes no sense, and when one’s own wisdom might seem good enough, but is not God’s wisdom.

How many times has a person prayed Lord can you not sell one of them cows in heaven so I can make ends meet. Only to find strength renewed even when the budget or need was not meet as one had hoped. God’s way or our way. God’s way or our lunacy. God’s way or our wisdom and understanding to meet the problem. As Obama plan to give Iran nuclear knowledge continues to be thrown out by congress, I have to ask, is this God way or man’s ideology, never weighing the common sense of the matter. I can only imagine trust in our leaders to be that they will protect the people. Yet, I find myself really wonder who side our nation is own. The America public or the world.

To trust our leaders we vote for we have to ask do they know what they are doing? Do they know from every demographic region of our nation that these people are counting on them to do the right thing. Yet one wrong move in a checker or chess game can cost your men lives. To trust in God is not a checker or chess game. It is to say okay Lord what move do you want me to make. Not lets move this piece here and see what the opponent is going to do. God already know the opposition next play. He has the power to control that next move of the opponent, so why do people fear the enemy, or the neighbor. Israel when they relied on God never lost a battle, or worried about how little or how small their army was. They relied on the knowledge of the Lord.

To learn to trust like Israel of the Bible, to learn to trust as the men of faith of each generation. To learn to trust and abide in God is to take Him not only at his word but to move when the Spirit says jump you say how high. If you find a cliff and God says jump you have to trust God will catch you, yet you better make sure before you leap God said jump, because if not His hand will not catch you before you hit the valley floor instead you find a pit waiting for you to climb out of.

Dear Heavenly Father help us not to trust in our wisdom and knowledge but in your power, strength, might and word. To listen to your Spirit Lord teach us to humbly obey your will and move in the direction of your call. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
