God's Preparation
8/04/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Acts 7:21-22 KJV (21) And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son. (22) And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

God’s preparation is like no other. God saved Moses by the hand of Pharaoh’s daughter. She adopted him as her own and called him Moses because she drew him out of water. He was taken into the palace at two years old. He would of learned the ways of Egypt and its laws. However he knew he was Hebrew for he killed an Egyptian because he was beating a Hebrew. This would make Pharaoh angry and Moses would go then to the land of the Midianites and marry a high priest ‘s daughter. This position gain because he help destroy their enemy. Under his father law he would of learn the wisdom of Midianites. Moses would learn the wisdom of God by following God’s direction from the burning bush to go to Egypt and rescue the Hebrew people. Moses would learn obedience to God and the ways of God. Yet he knew the ways of Egyptians and Midianites. He knew about human law. He knew the wisdom of the law of the land. He knew the power of the law, and he then learn the power and wisdom of God. Yet it would take a leader knowing both laws to help free Hebrew people. More then just the Hebrew people left out to go into the wilderness. Because of the signs and plagues many followed Moses. Yet even so these people would be governed by laws of Moses, and the laws of God. God’s laws are not grievous. Man law is something else, for the wisdom of man is only hindsight often times.

Moses wisdom from an early age was not build on the things of God. What can you remember at age two, not a lot. Maybe a few toddling steps and something significant like person, or events. Yet these images would fad with time and not be so clear. The wisdom of God would not come until later years as God woke Him to his will and power. I can not imagine it being easy for Moses to watch these plagues occur in Egypt after all he grew up there. It would have sentimental value at the least. Yet those who cared for him were not perhaps in power for the old Pharaoh had died. Had the Pharaoh family been killed inside a pyramid. Was his mother that raised him still living? Questions no one ever brings out with the history of Egypt.

Moses would lead a people he knew not. Moses would lead people that would not know his skills as a grandson of a Pharaoh or son in-law of Priest in the Midianites tribe but they would follow Moses because he was a Hebrew and he preformed godly miracles, that demonstrated he was at the least a prophet. His skills would help in trade to other nations that would let them pass through freely and be a curse to others that cared not for these tribes by natural enemies. The language of both would be necessary for the journey.

Moses wisdom verses godly wisdom can not be compared. For Moses knew not that he would lead the Hebrew people out of Egypt. Nor would he know the wisdom and knowledge he learned from people of power would benefit his station in life as a great leader. He even took council from his father in law on the road to the promises land to set up judges for Israel. Moses was still learning the wisdom of God and the wisdom of the council of men. Not always godly council, but sometimes good advice, for God even help write those laws to govern by. God allowed his father in-law’s council apparently. It the lifting of snake in the wilderness and the lifting of man. Man’s laws are burdensome, but God’s laws never are.

Do you have both godly and worldly wisdom or are you only made up of godly wisdom and not idea of the human laws. We live in a world of both. Consider how you adjust to both. God’s laws are not heavy burden as man’s laws can be. God’s law of love which is the law of natural man of morality.

Dear Heavenly Father as we take time to look at the world of wisdom vs. your wisdom, help us to remember your ways are simple compared to the ways of man. Man’s laws protect ungodly people and your law out trumps all laws. The law of love. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
