Outside The Gate
4/16/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Hebrews 13:10-15 KJV
10 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.
11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

The sin offering was burned outside the came, the peace offering was burned outside the came. Two offerings given, one for sin and one for peace between God and man. In the Old Testament in the book of Leviticus it discusses the routine of what was done according tot he sacrificial code. In Hebrews it speaks of the sacrifice because Jesus died outside Jerusalem to sanctify the people to cleanse them of sin and to be a peace offering to God has being the lamb of God. The author in Hebrew writes "let us go forth therfore unto him without the camp bearing his reproach, for we have no continuing city but we seek one to come". The mission call to go without the camp bearing the approach, being the outcast from the camp of Israel.

What is this camp. Israel was in the wilderness the sacrifice connected to the tabernacle/tent of God was put into place with the laws connected with sin and the peace offering. That is what the passage in Leviticus is talking about and this first part of Hebrews. Now some would think if the bull was sacrifice outside the camp, and could not be eaten, but had to be sacrificed to God that was one meal the camp could of enjoyed. However sacrifice was important and obedience to God was important to Israel. We must remember at one point God feed the people quail from heaven as well as manna. Now it does not make since to make such a sacrifice to us when we knew these people were also hungry nation at times. Yet God provision always was. God provision of sacrifice of meat and manna from heaven.

There some people today looking at that last toast of bread and wondering about their next meal even has I speak, and even with the government check it will not be enough to pay bills and buy food too. Something will be sacrificed I sure, either their food, home, or clothing. Most will say there is food pantries and soup kitchen, and those needing will say I can go their to eat. Before you loose your shelter consider taking a trip to the local pantry. When your job is back you can volunteer, give food or find another way to help perhaps. These people will probably put you to work quickly. Go to the welfare line and see how they also can help, some things can even be filled out online. Point I am making government sees your plight but also has things in place to help. To see those things working, also tells you later how giving can change your life in areas that have nothing to do with food, and clothing all the time. The community will always need soup kitchens and food donations, but also there is more things needed in a community to help the poor. Awareness of what available will help you make choices when you choose to help next time. It also allows church groups know what else they can do to better serve the community as well.

Endless no nonsense talking about sacrificing a whole side of beef, because of sin someone did, sound crazy if you ever been without. God is stressing something to man praise is more important to him. It more about the recognizing God in one's life, more about saying Lord in the depth of my heart I am sorry I have sinned, forgive me. Yet Christ was offered as a sin offering outside the gates of Jerusalem. To make atonement for our sin. You can leave God out of the city, but you will not win. You can leave Christ out of your heart but you will not win. Christ rose up from the grave to begin again with man, to start teaching him about love, hope and sacrifice. When we see a person healed do we rejoice or persecute those that obeyed God and prayed? Do we look and see the work of God. Christ came in peace and love and they persecuted him and crucified him for their sin, their sin of doubt and ignorance. Jesus was not the antichrist that came to deceive and to heal. He was the Messiah that came to heal and to bring peace to the world.

The disciples went beyond the gates of Jerusalem tell the story of Jesus and carrying the burden of sin of Israel to the world, for those that did not repent. Until we ask for forgiveness, our sin can not be forgiven. Until we receive Christ peace offering the Lamb of God we share in God's peace offering for man. The atonement that coveres our sin, when Christ said Father forgive them they know not what they do.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your sin offering and peace offering of our Savior, let us bear the story of the cross so others might know his hope outside the gate. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Leviticus 4:13-35 KJV
13 And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;
14 When the sin, which they have sinned against it, is known, then the congregation shall offer a young bullock for the sin, and bring him before the tabernacle of the congregation.
15 And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before the LORD: and the bullock shall be killed before the LORD.
16 And the priest that is anointed shall bring of the bullock's blood to the tabernacle of the congregation:
17 And the priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before the LORD, even before the vail.
18 And he shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar which is before the LORD, that is in the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
19 And he shall take all his fat from him, and burn it upon the altar.
20 And he shall do with the bullock as he did with the bullock for a sin offering, so shall he do with this: and the priest shall make an atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven them.
21 And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn him as he burned the first bullock: it is a sin offering for the congregation.
22 When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
23 Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without blemish:
24 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the LORD: it is a sin offering.
25 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering.
26 And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.
27 And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;
28 Or if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned.
29 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering.
30 And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar.
31 And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour unto the LORD; and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.
32 And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.
33 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering.
34 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar:
35 And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven him.
