Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 22:1-6 KJV
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

Luke 22:44-55 KJV
44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

Feast of the unleaven bread was a time when Israel came out of the land of Egypt going to the promise land. It was a feast to purge all leaven from among the tribe of Israel. Leaven meaning sin out of the tribe of Israel. If we purge our homes do we purge our hearts speaking of today, as this virus seems to plague our land we desire to purge from us by cleansing everything we have. We can go a step further and ask did Christ when he sop the bread at the passover purge his table of the leaven when Judas got up and left when speaking of the betrayal. Let us go further, who is doing the purging the Priesthood when they sought to kill Jesus or was Judas seeking to help in the purging of sin through the betrayal of Jesus. This one man was causing all the future problems of the Jewish people and probably an upthrow of power that might not end in hope and peace. By getting rid of Jesus the Priest hope to gain their money and control back over the people and also reinstitutionalize Roman form of government in their land. The priesthood was also upset because of the miracles Jesus performed. It all boiled down to people not liking Jesus because of how it effected their business.

When we talk about purging of the land we have to ask can any sin remain within the land, the answer is no. Yet there is a problem many understand the need to rid evil from the land we live in because we use to allowing sin that does not infect others or sin that does infect others. Our world is all mixed up when it comes to what is righteous to God. Let us go on, to the betrayal of Christ, for the purging of Israel of sin.

One can not take a perfect being and purge sin from a nation unless it be the lamb that was to be slained. Israel had performed the passover sacrifice for centuries and purging of their own people and the gentiles for decades. The tradition was to sacrifice a ram of perfection on the altar or even a bull. The nation would be covered by blood of the Lamb to symbolize the protection God gives to man through the sacrifice. The ritual sacrifice went on no doubt, but another sacrifice was happening as well the sacrifice of Jesus.

Judas was upset because of loss of money and so the betrayal for silver was simple, he would tell the priest where Jesus was at night. Jesus had been in plain site and could of taken him at any point, but they choose the hour of darkeness for Judas to betray Jesus with a kiss. Judas took the soldiers of the temple to where Jesus was and kissed him on the cheek. Then the disciple asked should we strike with our sword, and cut off one the soldiers ear. Now one might ask a little more about this dramatic picture of ear being sliced off. One must remember in John Gospel the soldiers all fell back, Peter in John is recorded as cuting off the ear. This is a demonstration of Christ power. Then Jesus asked are you going to remove this cup from me? in John. This was the will of God, and the power of God had come upon those soldiers as Jesus healed the soldiers that they were then allowed to continue their arrest. The betrayal complete, or God power demonstrated within the betrayal of what He would allow and not allow. God was not going to allow harm to anyone else because of this evil plot. To purge an evil plot he had to allow it to happen.

If a cop is going to arrest a criminal he has to allow a plot to take place. Yet with the plot he has to allow it to finish to get everyone that was involved in the crime. Jesus death and resurrection no doubt effect all involved in his execution, and resurrection. The thought that anyone could kill God's Son was as crazy as someone killing God. Is God messing up your plans? Right now I think the government of our land is definitely messing up people plans with new rules of stay home rule.

Is God purging our land this Easter, I do not have the answer, nor do I want to try and figure it all out. However if this helping people to understand what taking place, I suggest we look at the plagues of Revelations and ask what is God trying to do. People do not have to be evil to die in a plague. What the world considers good people is not always what God considers righteousness, nor does it mean that those dying were not righteous people. God's way of waking us up to his power is a mystery to us all, but we know when God does, he does it with a fire of the Holy Spirit we never will forget. Do you not wonder when soldiers in John 18 fell back that it did not cause some to wonder. Yet Christ is clear God gave this hour of darkeness to the priest and soldiers. This is their hour of sin. Priesthood a purified lot was not fixing to know sin by their actions. When they crucified Jesus they would know they could no longer get rid of God's word, or his will. They were stuck in the will of God. Will of God was to crucify his word(Son) to rise Him back up, for our salvation. For us to understand the word of life was important. Jesus being the bread of life and the unleaven bread that we eat for his rememberance of his body broken for us.

His word came forth at the time of Israel departure out of the land of Israel after 7 plagues. His word coming forth to hope to promise. When we leave the shelter of our homes we will leave for hope and promise of a brighter future. No doubt many will still mourn and many will remember love ones who had faith and non faith and wonder why God is allowing a plague of man to control us. Then we must look at the cross of Jesus and understand He was one out of thousands to follow so God's word might be known and understood. That God's word would be declared upon the earth once more.

There are seven plagues and seven bowls and seven trumpets. Are we listening for the trumpet of the Lord. Are we listen to God's voice this Passover week. Are you willing to obey God? We sing I surrender all and all to Him I owe in church, but do we truly surrender, when we are only thinking of ourselves and our families? The answer is no, but truth love begins with loving God and ourselves, to loving others. To learn to love we must begin with receiving Christ love, through receiving his will for our life. Can we receive God's will. Can we receive God's will of illness, pain and sorrow. Can we receive God's will for hope for tomorrow. Can we receive His will when others faith waiver and they have to reminded by our suffering, because we have the hope of Christ in our life. Most of us are not there, why because of our humanity. Yet God is calling us to allow God's will to be done in the world, despite our own hardship.

The eleven disciples were getting ready to go through a major attack of mental and emotional upheaval with the events that they were told about began to happen. Ever have some forcaste your future and only to say is this God or man? Beware of the speaker and if God did not tell you or confirm it by the Spirit it not of God. I talked to stranger the other day who said he knew I carried the testimony of God. Yet I did not feel the same toward him. I thought to myself, why was that. He spoke of hope and no fear, but what was lacking. I did not know. Still do not. All I can do is prayer for that man, I do not know.

The blindness of Judas and priesthood was the will of God. To understand that his will was for Christ to die, and to be resurrected as to be clear. It was no one's fault in regards to who nailed those nails. It like this plague in our land, we can not be angry at those that did not know they were sick and spread it. God's will for something is hard to handle at times. The cross and suffering of Jesus is hard to accept. Yet Jesus would go to the cross for the sin of world, to lay his life down for many. He went willingly, even though he wept and prayed and sweated drops of blood, before saying Lord your will be done.

Dear Heavenly Father, may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, enable us to receive your will in our life, despite the sins of those walking in the world to harm the innoncent life of those not sick with coronavirus. Lord remind people not to cough in people's faces and keep their distance. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

John 11:47-52 KJV
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
