Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 26:20-25 KJV
20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?
23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

Judas enters the dinning hall and sits down to eat with Jesus even dipping his bread in friendship into the wine as custom of the day. Yet his plan was full betrayal. In John 13 it says a devil was put into his heart. The only time this is really mention in scripture as God allowing evil spirit to enter or placed in someone heart would be King Saul. Now Judas heart was based on temptation of money. His greed greater then his common sense. Jesus though once popular was taking on opposition. Opposition is normal when it comes to spiritual truths. People want the lies, the stories, but not the truth. I was thinking about some fictional books I enjoyed over the years. They are enjoyable to read, but they are not truth, though an element of truth might be in them.

Judas believes that Jesus is worth fifty pieces of silver to betray him to the Priest and does so. Yet he betray Jesus because of evil spirit that was not cast out though in the presents of Jesus. I think of all the ways Jesus could of stop his crucifixion and did not. Have you ever wanted to avoid a situation and only solution was to plow through the situation. Our nation is needing to plow throught this situation, so job industry is changing to tecnological world. Computer world is a way to create new jobs and new work and keep money flowing. People can sit and work and take care of their families and even go out when they need too.

Some people rather work with their hands and there will always be jobs for hard labor, but the business world is being reconnected even more right now and government is able to watch people work and see that they do on their jobs from within the walls of their homes. Even turning on your camera from the computer. Seeing your home and you has who you truly are. The big brother in full effect and everywhere. Yet most of us can not get use to this techno world of big brother. It be effecting our kids differently for they will grow up not knowing the difference.

However Judas is use to the idea of revenge and when Jesus rebukes him at the house of Lazarus it must of been enough to begin to fuel the flames of hell in Judas. Judas was money man and when Jesus allowed the woman to anoint him with costly perfume it angered Judas. That my friend is why Judas betrayed Jesus. It was not just greed, but embrassment of the situation.

Has anyone ever embrassed you to the point that you wanted to kill them? Then you might ask were you in the right to want revenge. Let me ask you what in your life time have you down that embrassed others. Is your own ego worth loosing a friend or family member. The answer is probably not. But the question still remains was it a true friendship. Jesus friendship is a true friendship offered. Judas understood it after the betrayal. Judas shame was before his eleven brethren that he walked and talked with for three years.

There are plenty of things that will divide people but the only the thing that divides you from God is you. Peter denied Jesus, that is a form of betrayal and he repented and found grace in the eyes of Jesus once more. Both Peter's denial and Judas betrayal was known to Jesus. It was Jesus who could forgive. Peter found forgiveness at the cross. Judas found no forgiveness from people who wanted Jesus dead. Those in opposition to the cross is not going to forgive you. However how long it takes for them to work through the forgiveness might be understatement.

Can we forgive others the way we want to be forgiven. Can we forgive those that persecute us. Most of us say sure. What about rape and murder? That is a process sometimes to forgive things that effect the very core of our nature and who we are and the attack on our families. Forgiveness is the hardest thing people do. Yet it is a blessing God gives each of us when we ask and receive Jesus Christ as Lord.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to forgive when we are harmed emotional, spiritual and mentally. For God's people are under attack. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

John 13:2 KJV
2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

Luke 11:4 KJV
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
