Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 24:1-10 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Power is one of the most dangerous things man has to deal with as leaders and rulers upon the earth. No one is exempt. We might act like a giant in godlike since but it the heart that God sees. Without seemingly needing power, one might use it to educate those of lesser degree of power to show how power can be used incorrectly. Yet that is safe way to express a point. A true tyrant never accepts corrects, even when forced upon them to submit.

Satan one mistake in Isaiah 14 was thinking he was equal to God in authority. Thinking he could over throw the Lord's power. When I think on this, many power rise and fall, even in own country. Our county a land of freedom does not mean powers do not rise from all kinds of directions in our nation. Some that think they can control our land and can not and others that control people with fear, hope and dreams only to one day try and destroy or take those things from people, because that power gets exalted above the nation's power. That the error. No, it God demonstrating in this Psalm in plain clear language to the world. God is still on the throne and still in power. God has no problem casting Satan and his angels into the pit of hell. Not only do they get an eternity without God, they get a place of eternal torment, the torment they used on so many others.

When man learns not to be vain in their own heart they can be blessed by God. Man must learn not to be pompous or thinking themselves more highly then they ought too. They only have power that God gave them to have. Christ comes and demonstrates his authority over the earth. The earth obeys with calming of the wind and the waves. Christ authority demonstrated of his power and might. Yet the world could not understand this power, nor receive it, because they were blind to who Christ is. He would go humbly as a sheep to the slaughter, and go to the cross for our sin, because we did not recognize him. Yet in his power he still said Father forgive them. It important to know despite his pain on the cross, and the words of forgiveness, life would come again to the power of God, in fact it did not cease on the earth. All nature declared who God was and is. The earth did shake, the sun did hide in eclipse that day. It hard to take in the fact that God allowed this punishment on his Son, but he did so, as example of what happens when we exalt our power over people and it is not ours to claim. Christ could claim his authority and did so with the resurrection. The mystery is why wait til the third day, perhaps the first shock of events that did occur had to be processed by the human mind. Maybe the second reason, is the Jewish law of the sabbath, that no work could be done, which was originally established by God when he created the world and heaven as we know it. Jewish sabbath being on Saturday. Jesus paid the price by the laws of religious leaders and the law of Rome as exalted himself as king by entering into Jerusalem on a colt, the tradition of Jewish kings. I sure there are many many more clear reason Jesus waited til the third day, but I stop right there. He died as a devil, that he was not only to rise to victory to have ascend into heaven. The grave being empty and stone rolled away by the angels as the earth did quake as the soldiers laid as if dead, but were not. You(us, the human being) are the everlasting door when we allow Christ in. Jesus is the everlasting bridge, the everlasting Lord, that enters your heart when you open the door to your heart. You have a place that allows God to enter into you and that is your heart so that he will wine and dine with you forever and ever. You are just a person with no authority but what gives, and that authority is to pray in the name of Jesus, after you are saved. All believers have that authority to pray in the name of Jesus and to petition him with all kinds of request.

Let me go on to say, we can never be God, His spirit dine with our spirit and teach us his ways. His ways never end. We must learn not to be Gods but humble servants willing to submit to God. Willing to serve God. Last night as I fixed supper my husband and I favorite argument is who serves who and who is boss in the house. Both claiming the other does more work in the house. It probably split fifty fifty. This last month perhaps has taught many people who is boss in their house and if authority is split equally or not especially those with children. It worse then snow days because for the most part it is pretty outside and natural course is to go somewhere. One might consider outside exercise, and not the continual indoor exercise. Some with small house have issue of working out indoors, that okay, it warm go outside and do some chores, plant a garden if you got a yard. You can even have seeds shipped to you. Consider raking and cleaning the yard. I got plenty to do outside. However the point is those in tiny apartments, walk the block, or in the park and return home. Content on staying in do so. However don't go far from home, that is key. Could your local park need cleaning? That might be a job for a local area with obeying the guidelines. There always something need doing. There is always work to do. Choose your battles this week. Stay safe and obey the law as much as possible. Show the world we can do it by God's marvelous grace, for his authority reigns. Give God the glory for his sovernity in the world and our government. One ore thing could you give a ten car worship service at your church, all vehicles in a bubble car, with their cell phones as speakers using online for the rest of the congregation that can not be attendance and rotate who in the parking lot to hear the sermon as a group. Consider it. It be a solution and statement using safety as key and yet able to worship in presence together. It be opposition to consider. Not sure how will it will work. You could do small gatherings all day. Heat index in some area might not allow you to keep your windows rolled up.

Dear Heavenly Father, move the mountains that you made to show us your power and heal our land. The sin of not seeing you for who you are. May your glory shine in the world today. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Isaiah 14:12-18 KJV
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
