The Fall Of The Wealth And The Need For Healing
4/01/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

James 5:1-20 KJV
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

The most sorrowful days are the days when the world sees the rich man struggle, because they know that their own demise might be at hand. We often forget the rich have a place in society and in the world we live in. Would our economy survive without the wealth of our nation, the answer is probably not. Yet we must think even hard if the world is in shambles and the wealthy is wearing old suits that are now filled with moth holes, the nation is in need of help from the Lord. It is to the shame of the rich man when the nation needs the Lord more then his power or wealth. When reliance comes upon our nation and the need for the money goes dry. Are we watching God bring man to his knees. King Louie XIV of France thought he could win the French Revolution only to beheaded a few people to solve his trouble of his society. Only to find himself facing the guiltine when the rebels took power.

However often the rich believe power and wealth will solve all issues, they to will discover and find their money can only stretch so far, and the need of God is greater. Our nation alone has lived upon wealth for decades, even in times of trouble its wealth has had its victory by fighting and enabling others to strive for position of wealth and luxury. Yet when the wealthy get richer and poor get poorer, then the wealthy looses there power, either by health, money, or by being overthrown. It a natural occurence in society that we often close our own eyes too.

Job faith was righteousness, his self righteousness of whether he deserved hardship was his problem. God was merciful for he could of destroyed Job or left him in times of hardship through out his days. The Prophet Elijah not a man of wealth prayed for rain and no rain came for three years, but provision was made for him in time of hardship.

There is point wealth might enable science to come up with a cure, but it will not just magically produce a cure. Wealth might buy happiness and maybe even buy a little cleaniness with those that clean the home. However you better pray those that care for the rich care about his life and their job. There is a point, many will care for the rich without money, if they cared for them.

God is no respector of person when it comes to his wrath on sin. Sinful people are in all ranks in life, the wealthy must fall the same as the poor and middle class. God's mercy and protection is on all that ask and receive Christ as Lord. Where does it end and where do we start?

We begin when we recognize our sin, the error of our ways, the need for God's healing touch and his mercy to reign in our life. As believers it is important to gather in prayer. It is important to call on the elders and pray for those sick and afflicted that they may be made whole, whether it be physical, spiritual or emotional healing. We are to confess our faults to one another.

As beleiver no matter rich or poor must pray and repent of our sins and even confessing them. Why confess sin, to help another brother and sister in the Lord to know God has the power to forgive even the worse sin of man. When the wealthy realize they are not God, they know they have their limits of what they can do might not help. They know that it takes an act of God to change the world. And the one act that changed the world is when Christ died for everyone sin.

This chapter deals with the fall of rich, but also the knowledge that Christ return draws near. What does that mean, it means the wealthy have discovered their need of God. That they no longer consider themselves a god, but ambassador in service to God upon confession of faith and repentance of sin. God is not going to move in our land until the wealthy come to a place knowing their own limitations. May the time of sorrow in our land not be long, but a time of unknowledging God's power in our lives. The fact we need God and His Word in our land. The poor must also know God will deliver in times of harship, if they will hold to the truth of God's word.

Dear Heavenly Father, as more human life is lost, move in the hearts of all people to recognize their limitations, and acknowledgement of your power. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Luke 18:24-27 KJV
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
