Jesus is coming in search of you. Actually Jesus already knows your name, and where you are. A good pastor checks on his people. Yet it is true that in this day and age, to check on a person must not be done to the point a person feels a minister is trying to control a person. A bad cultic situation is when a minister forces his people into church or conveys their need of church is crucial to survival. The pastor of a church should be an advisor. Jesus is a shepherd that comes and minister to his sheep. Yet his call to his sheep is in obedience to him alone. There is a reason there is only one shepherd in the since the Great Shepherd that one has to submit too. Man will lead a person astray not meaning too, even setting themselves up to be a God. Our Spiritual King is whose voice one listen too. Our elders of our church and ministers should be good advisors, but not controllers of our heart and mind. Our own need to search out our Savior and His Word comes through that personal relationship with God. Eve listen to the serpent in the garden, that was her shepherd. It cost her paradise.
Do we care for Jesus. He was the Pascal Lamb that was sacrifice. This is Jewish Passover, which Christians have already celebrated with Easter. The reason being the Calendar is different for Jews and the Christians yet they do go inside with each other from time to time. The Jewish Calendar has couple extra months in it. With those extra months it through Christian and Jewish dates off from each other. Yet they will crisscross again. The Pascal lamb is the sacrificial lamb for passover that is eaten and sacrifice for the markings on the door for protection. A reminder of when the death angel passed over God’s people and slayed the Egyptians first born. Christ is the Pascal Lamb that was slained for you and me for our protection. Yet if the world had understood who Jesus was, would they have crucified him. Would they have allowed one to died for sin.
The lost sheep is a story about the shepherd protecting even one sheep that gone astray. Yet something to note that the sheep that went astray was a sheep, and not a wolf or a lion. If the sheep was a wolf or lion the shepherd would hunt and destroy it for it would seek the life of the sheep. A Believer is a person who believes in God and desires to do the will of God. Yet it is possible for a believer to backslide and so the shepherd comes in search of the sheep. Minister often will call on the missing of their congregation in hopes to bring them back to church. Yet Jesus will speak to the backslider about the need to follow Him. He comes seeking our hearts to bring us back into the fold of faith. This individual call of the Great Shepherd and not call to congregation though it maybe a place you find the teaching and instruction of how to come back to God. Yet it begins in the believers heart. Calling to the Paschal Lamb for his protection for his help, whether in times of trouble, or when one realizes there life is out of tune with God.
Christ died for our backsliding, He died for our sins against the Father. The idea of God searching for us, is our idea of not realizing God already knows where we have been. Adam and Eve hid in the garden and God asked why, yet God already knew why. Our human instinct to seek out those that are like us is normal. Yet Christ came seeking those that would follow that were believers too. Bring the believers into one accord through his death and resurrection. God abandon his people, never did God abandon his people. God just changed the place where and Adam and Eve lived, because in his house he had rules that man must follow. Man broke the law of obedience to God by listen to his wife who obey the serpent. To some people God looks like a bad shepherd because of out casting his people, yet even Eve recognized the one that gave her a son who was the Lord. God gave those that choose Him eternal life. It more then just beliving though it starts there. Even the devil believes in God and yet he will spend eternity in hell. Man will spend eternity with God that believe and the lost with the devil and his angels.
If the shepherd knows where the backslider is, it much easier to look up from the cliff one fell over where a ledge caught them, then to jump to one’s doom once more. See God wants to rescue us from the cliff and the ledge we find ourselves upon. That ledge one falls to is a place of safety, a place of capture with a choice of crying for help or jumping to another ledge. God’s mercy is to reach his shepherd hook down to pull one up the side of the cliff, and putting us back in his arms. One relates the searching to a runaway child who gets in a predicament that a parent has to rescue a child from. A real parent will search for a child and the other one will abandon the child. The parent that cares nothing for the child will never look for him. Cares nothing for his sheep. God the Father neither abandon or abused his children but put them in a place where they had free choice to choose. His plan of redemption through faith is as old as the beginning of time. Jesus the Paschal Lamb came to prove that God’s people were his people as well as the lost and outcast of Israel. Do we deny who the shepherd of our soul is? Trust me Jesus is seeking you to come back to Him. To come to the safety of His arms, do not jump to the next ledge eventually there will be no ledge to catch you.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for sending Jesus to show your love for your sheep especially those who stray from you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
