Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
I just erased all I wrote down this morning to begin again on this passage. I am so sick of speaking about destruction that I had to think again about what I was writing. It easier to think about prosperous times then times of hardship or destruction. The other day I had seen where in Houston a lady being optimistic about her situation though she did not have flood insurance. All I could think she said she had no flood insurance, and probably not enough help from the government; she will have to begin a new life for herself. Yet she was still optimistic of her situation. Optimistic because even though she lost everything she found people worse off then her. She was able to see the plight of her situation of being able to recover, while others had either died or were dying. It is the human spirit that says I will overcome. It is Godís Spirit that speaks to man how they will overcome.
God told Noah to replenish the earth. To replenish is to fill in the Hebrew language, the original language of the Old Testament in the Bible. To multiply was to increase family the size, as well as crops. Time of production after the storm reminds one of the days of Noah. Not one flood victim today can rationalize the safety of the ark, only the boat coming to get them or hope of making it to shore. I never heard of anyone building ark of safety to protect from rain since the time of Noah. No man made ship has been completely weather a storm like the ark did.
Ark was specially designed by God and Godís hand was upon it and the people within the ark. The people came out of the ark of safety. An ark that weather the storm, and the ark that God had sealed the door for protection. God protection in the middle of the storm is when the world would like to destroy your ark because God has sealed your ark till the day of coming out of the ark. On the day of coming out of the ark for Noah was a time to listen to God once more and to follow Godís instructions. God told Noah and his family to reproduce, and to fill the earth. Man has been doing the refilling processes for thousands of years now. Yet destruction still comes and man rebuilds. The one time my family went through a flood, we lost some things in the basement, but not anything that could not be replaced. Noah lost everything he came to know and love about the world before the flood. God told him to replenish. He made it clear that animals were good for food and so were the plants. He had natural substance God gave every man. No reason man has to starve, unless the ability to capture or pick the food to eat. One was told not to eat the blood of the meat though, and I think of people that love their steak rare and said did you know scripture says this, and some would say yeah and that Old Testament. Yet it was faith at its purest form of obedience to God.
Reproducing and caring for Godís creatures are part of life. The need to plant and grow fruit and vegetables is a much need necessity even in culture today. Food is not replaceable by any other source. All food comes from plant and animals. Our world is needs plant life especially in our city because of carbon emissions. The solution is for everyone plant a plant and watch it grow. Build a garden on the roofs of cities, and in alleyways. Make life vital again, for destruction comes because of some changes in our environment. Most of those changes today are not God made but man made because of pollution. Grow a tree and plant a pot of life flowing fruits or vegetables. Grow a flower and enjoy the beauty of it. God plan is to replenish the earth with life. This will continue until the day of final judgment.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for times of replenishing on the earth. For rebuilding to know life is able to go on and thrive after a storm. Encourage your people in harms way because of current flooding and earthquakes. Help your people to shine with hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
