God Verses Man's Design of God
04/07/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Job 40:1-24 KJV
(1) Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
(2) Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
(3) Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
(4) Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
(5) Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
(6) Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
(7) Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
(8) Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
(9) Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
(10) Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
(11) Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
(12) Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
(13) Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
(14) Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
(15) Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
(16) Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
(17) He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
(18) His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
(19) He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
(20) Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
(21) He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
(22) The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
(23) Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
(24) He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

Man at some point began to use gods and goddess for their god. Creating them in the image they desired. Even putting words and laws into their mouth to form the ideal god they desired to create instead of the God of all creation. Today the worship of creatures still exist, yet few that worship the beast of the field have little knowledge that these animals can do nothing for them for God had created them. God almighty is a superior God to any image man can create whether a molten image, or worship of any animal upon the face of the earth. The love of nature and adoration of nature of God’s handiwork does not mean one worships the animal in the since of it being God. Knowing God’s creation has it limitations. God’s creation may have the power hunt you down as raging lion, or mad bull in open field chasing you with his horns. Yet God creation is not God or god. They fact is man at some point began to make gods out of images they designed with their hands. They sung around perhaps after the provision of a hearty meal of meat or fish. People thanked the spirit of the animal for their provision. Never grasping that it was not the spirit of the animal that provided it, but the one that created it that provided the meal.

To get in the head of ancients who worship the beast more then their Creator, one has to get in to the mind frame of thanking something that gave you a meal that has no power anymore to harm you in anyway. The mammoth was killed out, though it was larger then most animals. Killing these ancient beast by perhaps having them run over a cleft and them perishing at the bottom of the ravine. The beast were to dumb to stop running when they reach the edge of the clef, yet this great beast of burden gave meat they need for a crowd or a long winter. It was the only way to kill huge the beast of burden because arrows alone did not pierce the thick hid. They with their bare hands could not maim or wound these huge beast of burden.

Does man need an image to worship? Jesus was image God gave for us to worship. The only image God provided was in direct copy of himself. Would man crucify the image of God in full rejection of him or because of what He could provide was salvation for sin? Salvation of the ancient beast was meal for another day. Crucifying Jesus would take care of the religious leaders who thought Jesus was causing a revolution. At the beginning of the year I talked about the revolutionary Spirit, the Spirit of God to rise up and defeat the enemy. Jesus would raise himself up and defeat the enemy called death. He would rise up to live for eternity. Yet his resurrection is more then just simply coming up out of the grave, it means God’s word is alive and real. God’s word can be trusted through out eternity. That even when the beast of the field come to ensnare or entrap you, you still have a God that cares and can deliver you, or take you home to be with Him instead.

Man can only think he can destroy the real God and exchange for a lie of devil, but in truth the provision is from God. The beauty and love of God’s creation is not meant to adore in the since of worship, it was only meant for us to love knowing God created it. Who does not love the archaeologist finding ancient bones of old animals, yet those bones will not live again in the physical way. The animal once dead is gone, is there place in heaven for God’s deceased creation, garden of Eden did have animals where did they come from the world has no idea. Yet he places the images of his creation in the stars to form the patterns and shapes of them. .

To look at God’s handiwork and know there is a Creator means one looking to the God of all creation, not the god Zeus/Jupiter of ancient Greeks and Romans. A god created in image of what they thought God should be and not what and who God is. When man begins to think they understand all of God then that begins the flaw of man because one can put God in a box and sell God. I may know my Bible and know what Jewish people consider God to do and be. Yet scripture is only a guide of who God of all Creation is. God is more then the mold we put around the idea of God and His Spirit. God might be only love to you, yet love is only one aspect of who God is. God is judgment, wisdom, truth, salvation, hope, and so forth and so on. Many attributes of God but There is only one Lord. Jesus was the express image of who God is. The only image God gave for man to bow to, for Jesus was created not only in God’s image, but was the very word of God coming in the flesh, as well as in the Spirit. If I believe in a God of judgment then I must believe He can execute his judgment without my hands or body to destroy, to correct someone. If I believe in God as provider then he can send an ox my way. Yet the ox might be food, but he did not create himself, nor kill himself for you and me. Jesus laid his life down for you and me for salvation. People were the tools that killed Jesus to prove man could not be destroyed the Spirit of God that could raise the dead back to life. Man cannot kill God’s Spirit, a Spirit that can raise the dead, destroy the enemy, and save the soul from hell.

Who does not love a sunset, but it can do nothing but please the eye, who does not love the budding of flowers on a tree in springtime, or the snow in winter. Who does not love their pets, the animals in the zoo or animals on a safari? These things might help restoration of the human spirit for a time, but it will not last. God’s Spirit last for eternity and with His Spirit you to will live eternally if you believe in Him and His Word. The word that sent His Son to die and to rise again for you and me.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for being the God of all Creation. The Creator of the universe we live in. Thank for salvation through Your Son Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
