Virtuous Women Part 3 5/03/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisProverbs 31:13-20 KJV
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. My grandmother's were always busy women. I did not live close by but anytime we talked or visited them they were busy even after retirement. Both were busy in church activities and community things. I doubt either knew what idleness was till they could no longer be involved in the church and the world as they once were. Right now I have tons of things to do. One can choose idleness or be busy doing many things from work outside the home, learning to be productive in the home not just house work but selling either products to friends and neighbors that lead to hopefully aquaintances who buy as well. One can create and making things to sell. There all sorts of odd jobs that can be done. There church mission projects, to fund raisers that support mission project. Tending to the elderly that have no close by family to care for them, to visiting a nursing home and also children ministry inside and outside the church and lets not forget the disabled. These women also take care of refreshments for their husband and church work groups. These woman have little time for themselves, for they care for there families too.
Solomon seen the virtuous women as women that work, and took care of there families and others as well. He did not see the virtuous women has being idler. I wonder what his 800 wives did.
Solomon seen the joy of a woman whose light was still on late at night finishing or working on something as well. Women spinning and weaving material and threads for use for sewing. He seen woman enjoying herself selling in the market place things she sewed, gather or baked. As Solomon wrote he admired much of the virtuous woman.
Women we who are virtuous do not spend their time gossiping and in idleness. Yet with technology it gives much time for it. Imagine a world without the phone, computers and even tools that make weaving much easier. People if they wanted to get ahead had to find ways that quicken there time or hirer and pay people to do those things. Shirts do not come from a box or off a hanger. Material has to be created and woven. It then cut by a pattern and then sewn with fine thread that been spun and dyed. Today many no longer have a clue how this is done, but the king took notice of the women of his day and wrote about their busy work to make money.
Dear Heavenly Father keep our hands busy and away from idleness, bearing testimony of a virtuous man or woman. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study:
