The Lord's Supper

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 22:14-20 KJV
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

The crucixion is one of the main thing remembered in scripture but what part of the cross should we try hard not to imitate but remember. The Lord supper was for a reminder to the people of the cost and sacrifice of the word of God through the human sacrifice of his Son on the cross, through Jesus blood being pour out, to the mockery, to the price he paid with his human life for you and me. The wine representing his blood. The bread representing his life. The life of his precious word as Son of God and word of life. His body that is broken for you and I, and resurrected for you and me. God will was done to set up a memory for every generation from present til Christ' return.

The word God through disobedience cost Adam and Eve their soul in heaven. Yet by God's word he gave permission to nail Jesus to the cross, we do that today when we break his word by not believing in Jesus, the New Covenant by not believing his word. His word which the world will and does go about destroying it again and again, yet he has the power to raise it back up so all can hear and have a chance to know the word ans follow after his Son Jesus.

Very thing we should not not be imitating in the act of sin of unbelief in disobedience to God. We are to be followers of Jesus and his word because he said so. In normal to fall but in our fall were we aware our actions were in disobediwnce to God?

Jesus in the story of the sorrow talks about the type of ground his word lands on. Last night as God was speaking about todays message to my heart he spoke to me about the soil of not only the hearer but the doer of God's word, as to not only ready to receive the seed, but one must also be willing to allow the soil to be fertilized with his word in our heart for it to grow. The way to nurture the seed is being willing to not only receive but to allow it to blossom and bloom in our hearts and radiate to the world, so others can receive and blossom the seed of faith in their life. Then it hit me my message is suppose to be on the Lord's Supper what does that have to do with the story of the sower. Then hit me again the meal he is serving us is the broken word and the blood is pour out by ministers that serve it. The meal is served but the tiny gobstopper seed with all the flavors must be planted in the heart. What is a gobstopper a candy off of the movie called Charlie And The Chocolate factory that changes flavors but still a candt with for a full meal. However the little girl began to eat the gobstopper adventually had to go to the dejuicer room because she expanded into a huge blueberry.

God had to wait til the world could receive his God stopper but it to had to be juiced by man, the world not yet ready to receive without the resurrected Jesus. Prophets had died not to rise again but God would send a new teacher but this time he sent his Son to say you killed him and I can raise him up over again. Drain his life flowing blood, drain all fluid like a dried raisin and God refill him and give him a body transformed into endless life.

The fruitfulness of the work of Christ could not be seen on the cross but after when he rose to victory and the word spread the news of eternal life for those that believed in Jesus and hope to all that would followed after him. Man's word changes with the flip of the hat. It might grow but the laws of man fade with disobedience to his word and is buried. How many intelligent people are in the universe but their word spoken might out live them but the revelance of those words will not survive into the techno age as being followed because of all the voice in cyberspace, but the voice that does not change with the passing of time is believing and following after the Word and His Spirit. Why because God is the only one alive that can raise his word up over and over again even through the cyberwars, robotic wars and can breath endless life and hope within through Christ's Jesus.

The one thing that can not be used to control man's mind because God allow man choice but also the one thing science can write the right scientific aquation for but can not use it as a control experiement because of no one can controlled varible called a person willingness to believe. Anyone can obey the word of God in life style, but it does not make them a believer. Belief is produced in the heart and mind that only God can see. We want to renact in remembrance of the Lord Supper then we must receive why we do so in faith and not of mimickry of the occassion called The Lord's Supper, but in reverence of faith in God and the work God does thrpugh sending his Son to do. Let us meditate on God's word as he speaks about the importamce of remembering the story of the betrayal, trial, beating, mockery and crucifixion to God's full resurrection of his Son and word that has importance of our faith even today.

Dear Heavenly Father prepare our hearts to receive the meal you prepared for us as your Son went to the cross and was resurrected to bring us hope of not only eternal life but that you word will abided with us forever for those that believe. Help our unbelief to receive your truth of your word and Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Luke 8:1-18 KJV
1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
