Satan Enter
3/23/2024

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 22:1-6 KJV
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

Correlation of the week of feast going from feast of unleaven bread to the time of Passover celebration when Egypt sacrificed a Pascal Lamb by putting it's blood over the doorpost so the death angel could not kill the Hebrew people but the first born of Egypt back at the time of the seven plagues of Egypt. They celebrate God's protection on their own people. Christian have what is best known as Passion week of Christ walk from time of waving of Palm branch ready to crown Jesus king to the Last supper to the garden, to his execution and death to his resurrection. Simple to say we well not finish all of Luke but skip to the Feast Week this year and some of the story of the week of Passion be unrecorded in Luke so we will move for a day to another book tomorrow because of Palm Sunday not recorded. Those familiar with Jesus road to his Resurrection will understand and those just learning there is a lot to the story I am not covering this year. There is a record in each of the Four Gospels.

Judas' story needs a little highlight as to what took to path of betrayal. The story of Woman not recorded in John but Matthew, Luke, and Mark ends with the washing of Jesus feet at Simeon the Leper house with an expensive jar of alabastar oinment. Judas being angry because Christ embarassed him with his rebuke begins his plot of revenge and betrayal. Scripture says Satan enter Judas. Judas had let his guard of his emotions down His angry reaching the point that Satan enter Judas to plot Christ betrayal and to sell information of Christ wear abouts to priest and Captain of the Sanhendrin military force which happened. Was Judas a believer or just a person that was in charge of the money bags. Judas is never record as believing Jesus is the Messiah or that he is the Christ but he follows Jesus. Perhaps he collected the money from those that desired to help in the ministry of Jesus. This is not a recorded fact but implied fact because he carried the money bags of Jesus. He may of only seen the greed of wealth of such a healing and storytelling ministry but with his enbarassement of not receive money from the sale from the expensive jar of alabastar ointment, and the rebuke from Jesus being good enough to cause his anger, his need for revenge sought not knowing Christ would die for his betrayal.

The plot of the story of the cross has begun. Judas chose his own revenge instead of taking a correction and walking by faith. Judas a witness of not only miracles but demons and miracles happening by his hand when traveling Jesus. He was disciple and they were commision to heal and to cast out demons. His greed and his desire of revenge allow Satan power to consume him. God and Christ gave permission for Satan to use Judas to betray him. Yet when Christ is lead to trial and to the cross Judas tries to repent to the priesthood and when they refuse the coins he sold him for, he hung himself. One book I think Acts says he body split open. Judas' life purpose would be fulfilled by the betrayal. Without Judas would there been a cross. It was God's will was done even down to thirty pieces of silver Judas gets when he hands Jesus over for trial. Will of God better to have a forgiving heart and not a revenging heart.

Dear Heavenly Father gives your children including me a forgiving heart. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 26:14-16 KJV
14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

The Prophesy

Zechariah 11:11-12 KJV
11 And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.
12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.

Matthew 27:1-10 KJV
1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
