Baptism Of Jesus
3/04/2024

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 3:18-23 KJV
18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

John not imprison when Jesus was baptized. All other Gospels does say John the Baptist baptized Jesus. I glad a few days ago when I started this chapter I am glad I mention purification of the priesthood when they before they went into temple to do their duties. Jesus was and is sinless. He was sinless for our benefit. No other person walks in full sinlessness though it be the believer strive. This baptism for Jesus was to prepare those of faith for one a demonstration of who he was annointed and chosen by God for his purpose, but not forsaking the cleanliness of his office by using the purification rights as it became time for his official duties by God the Father as minister. In the priesthood when you walked in holiness of office you did your best not to let anything or anyone that was unclean touch you.

Jesus healed the unclean, he did prostylete. He sent people he healed to the priest. God walks in hell and he walks upon the earth among unclean and clean. Yet the priest avoid these things especially people with leprosy and illness that could not be cured by modern medicine. We learn something of the prophet life outside the temple when we look at the story of John and Jesus. The priesthood had a responsibility to demonstrate the holiness of God and Jesus had a responsibility as God's Son who was the word of God to speak to the lost as well as the people of faith. This anointing of Jesus was not done in a sacred pool of water within Jerusalem before the priest entered the temple this was performed before the world who heard what God spoke as the Spirit in bodily shape descendend like a dove landed on his shoulders and God said this is my son who his well pleased. This anointing was witnessed more then a handful of people and even some of the priest bore witness of this event along with the disciples Simon Peter and Andrew who would follow Jesus the next day after talking to John the Baptist about who Jesus was.

John Baptist baptized Jesus for purification and preparation of his official position as Son of God. God's anointing came by God's choosing, and creating him and telling the world who Jesus was and is. Ministers it is not by another minister choosing you, though they may perform a physical ceremony to anoint and announce your call. God does his own calling of his ministers in every walk of life inside and outside the local church or region.

God does his own calling and in wilderness proves this as some tried to take Moses and Aaron position from them before getting swallowed up and buried in the wilderness. Ministry or your calling must come from God and it is still true today in the Christian church even being a deacon is a calling.

Dear Heavenly Father has you call your people to their vocation in life and in ministry to strengthen and build the church, may your anointimg flow so other see your call in their life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Peter 1:10 KJV
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Numbers 16:28-32 KJV
28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
31 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
