Rise Up And Walk 6/25/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 5:21-25 KJV
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?
23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.Four friends had lower their crippled friend to Jesus. Jesus says to the man that was lowered, your sins are forgiven. Scribes and Pharisees consider forgiveness can only come from God. Have ever needed forgiveness from a friend? Ever needed to know you were forgiven. Pharisses offer sacrifice for sin but did not know man could be forgiven by man. Both forgiveness and healing seemed and impossible feet to the scribes and Pharisees. Religious leaders are able to put a guilt trip on someonr that is often hard to remove because the ability to be forgiven is not understood without sacrifice for the altar by the Pharisees. Son of man has the ability to forgive. Yet For Jesus the power to heal is the same power to forgive. His authority of power coming from above was both for sin amd healing. For the man rose up and wall and he had been lame. Many things man can forgive but there are those things that only God and his Son can forgive. Yet both have the power to heal.
There are sins that need no sacrifice. Sins are forgiveness not with remorse, and ashes but the words of Jesus is all that was needed to forgive of sin because of his authority, because of this when wecrepent to Jesus, then all we need to rise up in obedience. The man on the mat obeyed Jesus and got up and walk, after unconfess sin were forgiven.
In obedience to Jesus this morning your sins are forgiven go and follow after Christ Jesus. The sacrifice not consider only the need to forgive, gave the man knowledge he arose he would be healed as well by faith. We can not be healed unless we can arise and walk.
Dear Heavenly Father with the knowledge Jesus can heal and forgive without sacrifice, may we rise to obedience of faith in him. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Romans 4:6-8 KJV
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
