Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 34:1-7 KJV
1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.
2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.
3 And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
4 And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.
5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

Several things running through my head this morning so I going to do my best to tie it all together. The waking of obedience has to do with first transgression with a cost. The picture in the devotion one with a frog and the other with a stone with water pouring out of it. Usually with it being Father's Day you see a Father's Day card. Yet it only on the home page. Now it not to slight dear old dad. Yet it had purpose in this month and perhaps it now. The cancer of sin is perhaps noted by Moses first sin in the wilderness and consequence of that sin in Numbers and not seen in Exodus. The sin of hitting a rock twice not once did not keep God from giving the people revival as the water flowed. No notation given to the oops in Moses life but on reflection in Numbers the story told of Moses mistake and cost was he would not get to enter the promise land. As I think on these things it never prevented Moses from rising up to obey God after. Yet we see death two chapters over in Exodus 32 when Israel desired a molten calf to be made to worship and once made, their first worship service lead to a mascar, because Mose came bringing the laws of God with him. Not everyone wanted to worship the calf and division of sin of idolatry brought death for all that would not stand with God and Moses. We got to remember upon entering the wilderness the first command gave was to only worship him.

We got two sins here one seeming greater and yet those that made the idol did not face same punishment as ones worshipping it. Aaron would remain in his office of duty. The second stones are order by God to be made and Moses rose up and went. The people waited for his return. The people during time of repentance seen and beheld Moses face when he commune with God and he wore his first veil of separation from the people.

God came and spoke to Moses in a cloud. He would rewrite the laws that had been given. The law do not kill only seems to apply to murder. Mose continue to rise up and submit to God without the confession of his own sin to the people.

When sin occurs despite confession to the brothers and sisters in the Lord, we see act of repentance. Israel repentance came wirh alliance to God and Moses despite Idolatry with long term consequence of continuing consequences seen with death.

It the repentance of turning from sin in obedience brings a resurrection of continual hope to the people as Moses arose to bring stones with laws writen on it from God to the people.

God mercy and grace seen in their obedience of no punished for the idoltary trangression. Did I tie it all together I hope so. The sanctification process in the New Testament is the same. We can beat ourselves up over sin or we can continue in faith and obedience. Chastisement comes with being caught and guilt comes, but something else happens as we continue in faith is God's confirming us as individuals that we are still traveling the right pathway. Moses seeing revival of people's faith with water gushing from a rock, to fear of God as his face shone because he had stood in the presence of God.

Where is our faith this hour are you ready to arise and go forth in obedience meaning your turning from sin. Or are you still running in disobedience with God's wrath right on your tail, like momma or poppa chasing you with a switch. If your God's people you can not continue in the pathway of sin.

Moses as a minister by not revealing his own sins caused a sin that would rectified to the people as Moses tells his sin in the version in Numbers 20:11 verse Exodus 17. Idolatry was Exodus 32. Moses only being a prophet and not a god to fear or worship.

We can understand small success of faith as water given when seeking God. We can understand our failures bring sadness to our hearts once understood that God caught us in sin. Yet God doesnt want us to remain in sack cloth and ashes, he wants us to continue rising up and examining his precious word following in obedience to him.

Dear Heavenly Father help to rise up and turn away from sin our life as we continue in faith running in obedience to you and your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Timothy 2:19-22 KJV
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
