Father: Lesson 3 6/12/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 4:18-22 KJV
18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.Yesterday message a bit short but I was in a hurry. Had to go out and was almost late. The reality is we can be called to go to appoint by text, phone call, by email and occassionally a text. My husband had three sources to be notified of appointment and all three were used. By the third source irritated. Then there was the wrong text number for a dentist appointment. I returned that call and stopped futures calls. But once it was a dentist i kindly quickly called and told them they are texting wrong number. She wanted me to give her a few minutes to fix problem. I explain it had nothing to do with me. Wanda you have a dentist appointment in Wytheville. I doubt wanda even knows my name. Probably auto correct. Computers are fine until they try be smarter then God and also man. What Man creates they also know how to destroy it.
The purpose of rant is to demonstrate we all who have phones know how to quickly respond to it. What our minds are forgetting how to respond to each other and maybe even God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). If Jesus had cellphone the disciples may of never followed. Now the men that followed Jesus heard his voice and left even their father to follow him.
Abram in yesterday's message could not follow his father's religious sovhe left him to follow God. Does it say that but one could imply it because he took only so many with him including a wife, who was a half sister, his nephew Lot and his family and not least some other souls. The hardest thing that seems like disrespect would be to loose family due to faith. In reality is your faith on God more inportant then the things you know and often trust.
Disciples did not go far from family at first. Yet the traveled with Jesus. No disrespect intended but they had to go leaving eork behind for their father. When Christ calls we either trust and obey or we go about our own business by our own compasses point and sometimes lead by ungodly people by our own choice or by force of sometype.
When we choose to obey Jesus, we often lead by the Holy Spirit. To follow and obey can lead not only repentance but that relationship called faith. Many believe but do not trust in God and Christ Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father we follow you and Christ to follow. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: John 10:27 KJV
