Be Serious 7/31/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJames 5:13-18 KJV
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.Nothing wrong with a quick prayer, but there are times we really need to get serious with prayer. I am talking the picture of the kneeling point beside the bed, the couch, back pew or the front altar at church or any quiet spot you can really take the request to God in prayer. Covering all the bases that the need of someone including self needs, deliverance, miracle, and relief for. It easy to say we are praying for someone but are we reaching heaven door with it. Sometimes there are needs no one knows exactly what to pray for or to pray out loud for exactly what is need maybe offensive to the one asking for pray. A father asking for his drunken son to get a new job opportunity is not going to understand a prayer of taking his son to a place he is in need of God, especially when he is asking for blessings.
When sin needs to be confessed before healing can began in life journey. You dont treat a germ without knowing what it is or most likely is. Sometimes sin is the cause of the ailment. Mrs. Olsen from Little House On the Prairie had gone to the altar she would expect a blessing not a time of confession of faults. Healing as her husband knew would point out her errors even in front of neighbors away from the altar, but in so doing it changed Mrs Olsen in how she treated people. Of course this is a tv show but most shows have the theme of change for the better with time. When God does the changing through confession of fault at the altar he not just changing one person but a group of people so his light can shine in their lives to others. We want healing it starts with faults of sin being confessed, then it continues from the healing of the soul but also the body. God does not heal with request being made known to him, it maybe there season for God's light to shine brighter then the physical ailment. Giving the hope of eternity being reality to the heart being pass to another.
Get to that altar genuinely seek and pray for those in need. If all you have time for at the present is a quick prayer that is okay, God knows the heart but when time allows get to altar of grace and pour your heart out to God and for those in need of him. Allowing Jesus and His Spirit to do the rest. Allowing God to lead you in prayer for those request.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to pray more diligently for others taking them to the throne room of grace. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 6:18 KJV
