Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 John 4:20-21 KJV
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

I woke up thinking about the word love. It not a word necessarily spoken because it is a word that is given or receive not in word but in deeds. Words are flighty and could be put in a fly by nite shop. Words are less then a dime a dozen, for one would only pay a penny for another's thoughts. Old cliches are only good for jokes and no longer worth there weight in gold. One stubs his or her toe or another part suddenly, then one can not help but yell the first thought out of one's head or reaction to pain. If you know it well hurt then your able to button your lip. If God warns you, it is better not to yell. Love is not words of pain but silence when hurt from another. To love is not always to argue back because of hateful words that will come out of it. Yet are the words sincere hatred or an emotional response to a problem.

If I could write John, I would ask is the hate toward the brother based on emotional response or heart felt anger that goes deeper into displayed action left unchecked by outward demonstration. I think John talking about anger that is deeper to the soul that can not be retained but expressed in words and deeds with deeds being only response that tells the emotional overload of the problem. No outward display can be a form of love because of no retailation.

The attempt on Former President Trumps life was outward hate uncontrolled. Only my generation and older remember when Reagan got shot and Jim Baker US Secretary. Some said it was because of a prophecy/curse on our nation. I meant to look it up to see if anyone connected this attempt with that curse. I took time as a teenager to read a book published by John Hinkley's parents about the man's mental illness. Mental illness can cause a rage that makes no since. No rhyme or reason for a person motives or actions. We watch an action movie and see an actor display his anger and hate toward the enemy and it seems justifiable and we see the villian as someone with an out of control hate and an anger issues. When we see it displayed in real life it makes no sense because we are the rational ones. Not because we are rational it is because we stand on the laws of our land, which are suppose to control uncharted hate anger of others that leads to violence.

This morning how many self righteous American Christians say I love everyone, but in reality hold to anger of a psycho without action. God sees the heart others do not see. We are to love everyone because God loves us. I think it is on Ephesians where it speaks of parents are not to bring their children to wrath. Ever wonder why because the anger and hate is seen by children are often mirrored back in children's own attitude and actions of both parents and friends of how anger and hate is dealt with, displayed, and shown.

If a parent shows love to one child and not the siblings despite the different emotional reaction by a parent, the emotion will still displayed on parent face noted often by children. That is how children learn to sabotage your reaction by a surprise attack. Even with a stoned face the words coming out of your mouth express in a tone not often hidden. God see's the truth of your reaction of the heart and not as act of fakery that comes with discipline.

God says love but have we truly allowed the fullness of God's love to pentrate our being. In Mark it says to love God with all thy heart, soul, mind and strength. And to love your neighbor as yourself. Our actions are not always of love, but do we love. The Holy Spirit often speaks to the believers heart about love. As we age we see love matures as a believer especially outwardly. Yet we also see something else in ourselves with an attitude of we were young once. Yet it the anger and hate that is more then reaction or emotion but is an outward show of terrorism that is dangerous to humanity and there is no love of God in terrorism. We need God's love to pentrate our full being. We need God's love to flow in and out of us in love.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to love like Christ demonstrated for us. To love unconditionally not in just words but mainly our actions. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Mark 12:33 KJV
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
