Jesus Breath On Me
01/19/2024

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 20:19-23 KJV
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

Might want to read the scripture at the bottom as well before reading what I written. God made Adam a living soul by breathing in his nostrils. Adam life chosen for the garden God had planted. I got to thinking God breath his own breath into nostrils of his creation. That breath that breathed of the Holy Spirit on the disciple and same breath that created Job. God having the ability by his word to resurrect bones that are separated by the decay of muscle tissue and so forth back for his purpose. That breath being our very life source, when he uses it to give man life. God takes and gives Adam breath for life.

There is more when Jesus breath on the disciples they were already living maybe still in human shock of unfolding events before, during and after the crucixion amd resurrection. Jesus comes to the disciples to give them the comforter he spoke about in John in chapters 14-16. That promise of God's gift for the journey of faith called the Holy Spirit. This same Spirit being able give that same breath to walk again even when the life breath is already gone.

We told in John 3 we must be born again and this is speaking about our soul that is made for a purpose by God. It takes a secpnd breath of God to give eternal life. Did Adam have eternal life when placed in the garden? We know with Adam sin he finds himself cast out and his body facing decay.

We can get find ourselves asking can we be cast out of heaven once there. So I began to ask had God at this point given Adam eternal life? Adam was placed in God's garden. Adam removed because of sin. Sin was possible because was made with free choice.

God created Adam with ability to make a choice called sin. In doing so there was a coinsequence for committing sin called death. God's first breath on mankind only gave life with choice. Jesus breath on disciples brought the breath of being born into incorruptibility, because of his resurrection. John declares in I John 5:18 "18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not". He born of God sins not. This sin would be against God not man. Devil can not plague God's children. It does mean we dont sin, but the devil can not touch only those around you. Your walking through tribulation the devil caused someone else. Our spiritual rebirth well prevent us from sinning spiritually against God.

This breath of the God a second time through Christ after his resurrection is the spiritual rebirth for etetnal. Jesus being provided to be man's sacrifice for eternal life and by doing so can give the second breath for new birth called salvation and the seal/mark of the Holy Spirit. A seal/mark given with each new birth. If not your time to leave this earth you better hope the pilot time is not yet.

Jesus breath can come with the power of the Holy Spirit for the building of the spiritual church or may come with the laying on of hands. For the apostles the out pouring of God's Holy Spirit came with a mighty rushing wind and cloven tongues found in Acts 2. The difference of spiritual birth and empowerment is simply like the baptism of Cornelius (Acts 10). He was believer, he knew not Christ beyond the scriptures and he receive the baptism of Jesus but they also given and received the Holy Spirit to testify through tongues, miracle, signs and wonder to those at the baptism. They had received both spiritual rebirth through Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father thank for the rebirth the revitalizing through Christ and exfoliating of your Spirit through the life of your Son and his breath of eternal life for all that believe and are sealed by your Spirit. Thank you for rejuvenation by your Son and Spirit. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study:

9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
