Are Your Feet Exfoliated 01/02/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJohn 13:3-11 KJV
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
How many have dust on our salvation? if the blood of Christ be applied to our life the road dirt needs not be applied. Coal dirt is one of worse dirts that goes on easy enough but hard to get clean with out a good soap. Find a tar pit in California or step on fresh tar after a roadwork is done it can take awhile to get off your shoes. There oil fields and good old fashion swamp muck that can cover your feet, but all it takes is Jesus exfoliating your feet to remove the road dirt called sin.
The story of Jesus exfoliating the feet with a good foot washing took place before Christ blood had been applied. However every year blood was sprinkled on Jewish people of sacrificial Bull or goat for the purifying of the flesh. The 12 disciples being Jewish by tradition then only needed road dirt removed from their feet where they walked all over Israel because of culture why would Peter need a bath from Jesus. As believers in Christ on this side of the cross we are covered by blood of Christ and only need sanctification or exfoliating our feet. We walk by faith but we walk in our humanity. We need cleansing also by the word of God in our daily life. That why their a need for personal Bible Study and group study, including church or other fellowship in one's life.
Peter had been baptized before Christ baptism he been a follower of John the Baptist and was a witness of Jesus Baptism. Peter needed not a baptism but purifying from Jesus, cleansong of the road dirt in his life. He needed exfoliating. He did not need however rejuvenating that would come with seeing Jesus after resurrection. Jesus sin was against man but not God. Disciples were with him at the turning over of the money changers.
Peter need only cleansing of sin because of his humanity. He walked according to Jewish law and followed the things Jesus taught by tradition of the law. Not all were cleansed speaking of Judas. Judas was fixing to betray Jesus.
Our first salvation is all we need and then just our feet washed. Our faith intact but we are still in our full humanity as God created us. Jesus had come from the Father and he would return to his Father. Peter and the others would continue to need sanctification from the word of God.
Dear Heavenly continue cleamsing our feet after the blood covering is applied by faith in Jesus. Continue our feet as we walk the road of faith. We tgank you for it. In Kesus precious name, Amen.
