Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisPsalm 98:1-9 KJV
1 A Psalm. O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
2 The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
5 Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.
6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.
7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together
9 Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.Lord makes known his righteous and the earth express joy with the roar of the sea and the floods clap there hands. If we watch a good detective movie where the good wins and the bad guy gets his just reward no one cries. In fact if in an acting theater one will often applaud not because it was a good performance but the enemy got his just reward.
Believers of faith this poem is Old Testament and Israel was called God's people. The reference of the flood and roar of the sea was probably reference to Noah flood. The idea of God's protection is not a new concept but an old theme through out scripture with God never loosing. God's judgmemt being fair.
The flood is a good example of what some readers might consider injust judgmemt despite the wickness of man being spoken about. The idea wickness can be corrected, is speaking that salvation and repentance came in the form of destruction. Noah no longer had to be concern of the wickness his children would run into but Noah's own wickness caused him to curse Canaan because he revealed his nakedness and did not just cover it. The cost of sin didnt stop Noah from being drunk. Sin would continue despite him and his family's salvation by God's instruction to build an ark, which they obeyed. Sin entering back into society, because of original sin.
The greatness of Noah salvation did not stop wickedness from returning. Judgment celebrated by the voice of nature. Yet sacrifices performed for God in thankfulness of salvation.
Some may see the flood as judgment they rather not see happen. We might not like God's wrath to much. Jesus holds the key to heaven and hell, and survival on the earth. Jesus being the word of God we have to trust God knew something we did not know concerning the wickness of man and judgment was justed and fair. God offers his salvation to everyone. Everyone that calls on the name of Jesus will be saved. Yet does that mean in every situation and not just our eternity. If we are saved by faith our security is assured but when God tells us to follow his instructions and to look to Jesus. Who instruction does the Holy Spirit write on the heart of every born again believer despite age? Every born again by faith in Christ Jesus. Our salvation on earth is his grace or judgment that it not time for one to come home.
Noah failed dont think you wont that why actions will not save us. God judgment came because of unbelief. Ever heard someone called a liar though he spoke truth. Yet he consider a liar because he did not lie and conform to someone else truth without evidence. God around longer then man he knows truth and his truth will set you free.
When Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so we also must lift the son of man, who is Jesus up. Why is faith important? It part of our salvation that glues us to God's truth about his salvation and his eternal judgment upon the earth. We either receive his truth or do not. Devil receives it not. Devil is called a liar.
Dear Heavenly Father help us trust your word concerning judgment so by faith we are saved by your grace as Noah was in the ark. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 1:18 KJV
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
John 3:14-21 KJV
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
