Debt Relief 02/22/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 18:21-35 KJV
21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Today Student debit relief is being highlighted as well as how much President Joe Biden is cancelling. What this is all about. Are we truly making education free, not exactly. Education debt relief is nothing new it helps not only with low income going to school but the richman as well. What it means it being paid back by working often for the government in the community as a civil servant in a job they are originally trained for. It is nothing knew. Every Presidency since it first was enacted help people achieve debt forgives by working on field like military, medical and so forth. This new thing been around even in my college days but is suppose to be improved, or was debt forgiveness increase because school pricing went up. Why was it highlighted to give people hope and make people aware of ways they can help their community. If thirty years ago I received debt relief for what ever reason then debt is paid and no need to look back until you here of 30,000 dollar loan was cancelled and mine might of been 5000 dollars. Who feels jilted the one who debit not cancel more. Or is both people feel the mercy of government. Things have changed and improved. But the money was never really free except in certain cases. Look how one might be able to pay for college and realize there are advantage and disadvantages to it.
Are we looking at how God forgives us. The greatest love story is God's forgiveness through Christ payment on the cross. Yet into today's story a king forgives a debt when he had the right to enslaved him and his family to pay a debt owed. Instead he choose debt forgiveness. The man walk away joyfully with his family only to see his debtor and ask him for money, he had no money couldn't pay his debt and the man treats him with no forgiveness and put him in jail. The bill not cancelled nor was the man treated justly. The king heard about it sent for the man he forgave and his family. Turm him over to the tormentors til all debt was paid.
There was a point can we forgive debt of sin as God forgave us unconditionally. We often forgive but trust must and maybe never restablished. Why because in our humanity our forgiveness like the king comes with reality we dont forget when we forgive. We see the error in another and we lash out as the king did and that not real forgiveness of God either.
God's forgiveness is better then the king for our sins go into the sea of forgetfullness. Our forgiveness is finite and God's forgiveness is infinite with repentance. Judas was like Cain, but he sought forgiveness by those that did not have the power to forgive his sin. With Cain there was no repentance. The older we get we either become hard or we forgive. Even with God removing our sin in the sea of forgetfulness their maybe chastisement and correction. Yet trust us only because he sees our sincerity of our hearts.
God expects us to forgive but does God forgive all our sin or does he corrects like the king. Sometimes corrects us. To teach us the value of what he did for us by forgiving us our sin.
Dear Father teach us to forgive our debtors as we forgive those that sin against us. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Isaiah 51:10-11 KJV
10 Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?
11 Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
