Search Me Oh Lord 02/18/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisPsalm 139:1-24 KJV
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. We may ask God to search our hearts but what is our reality. Our reality is Lord not that corner, not that shelf and God please forbid the Spirit from going under the bed, under the mattress and the rest of the furnishings of my heart, mind and souls. Just clean around that center and not every nook and cranny because who else will know. Dont open the closet, for the junk will fall out of there too. Let's stop with our thinking we can a person hide anything from God. Let's not pretend God's in control of our hearts. When we won't allow him to clean every part of our heart or are we still trying to hide things in our heart. God is able to clean without permission but he does not cleanse us without us coming to him first and allowing us to decide to allow him do his will.
God"s will in our life will break us to our need of cleaning that area of our heart or our problem will be used to remove it from another with the same problem. We can claim God does not care but he does in truth care about us. With allowing God in the driver seat and I decided to come long for the ride ends with the control of desire, thoughts, and ability still my controll. God wants to change our focus on who we are without him to who we are with him. God already declared believers in Christ to be over comers. We have to lay the problem at Christ's feet and working toward the path God has designed for us to travel. First our focus must come of who he is, his ability to change course for his glory. God is the Great I Am. Yet who are we in relationship to his power. We work in the thought of miracles of why not I, yet we fail to know the searcher of our heart. We can not run from his Spirit, and one can not hide from him. One can not be in hell or heaven without him being there. Yet he no longer hears our cries of those in hell beyond knowing they exist. In heaven he wipes the tears from our eyes.
God made each us in our mother's womb and in Jeremiah 1:5 he tells Jeremiah, he knew him before he was born and even conceived. God sees every part of us. God knows every where we go.
Let's begin with when we ask God to search our hearts and to remove any wicked way in ourselves we are speaking to a God that knows all about us. We speaking to a God that knows our needs. We speaking to a God that desire communication and love from us. Do you ask a friend for bread when you have a loaf at home of course not. Do you ask for piece of candy when there is cake on the table. Do refuse the desert if you know it only going to add calories to your waistline. Our humanity says we want the cake and the ability to eat it too with not seeing the scales go up. We desire the cake with all the right flavors that speaks of its richness and not improverishment. Yet God removes the eggs and the butter and does it still taste as sweet. The sugar remained camoflauging the need of the fat of the cake. It the excessive fat that makes the cake fat and desireable. Fat has more flavor, adds the news zip to need more. Cocoa adds flavor bit also caffeine. Remove it and you lose the addictive power of control. Fry your cake in hot oil and though it might be less fattening then grease or butter you will desire more of the things that effect our waistline.
Remove sin and a person becomes attractive to God but to others believers he/she is saved by grace. Add the sin the church will shout you need Jesus to wash that away. Ask Jesus to search your heart and remove evil, because he hates evil and the ways of the devil. God hates anything in opposition to him, to his word and his will.
Our attraction of our sin shows our humanity and the world does not see the difference God makes to our life. God knows our true nature knows our heart. Our soul can only become healthy because of the filth that was swept clean when we ask him to remove the impurities in our heart. Our health of our soul becoming healthy not fat with the love and hope of God and Christ Jesus. Our energy and strength to do his will comes with the purging of our hearts, because we said Lord search me and remove the fatness of evilness out of my life.
Dear Heavenly Father search our hearts and remove the fat of evil out of our lives that clogs our heart that gives us death. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 81:15-16 KJV 15 The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
Daniel 1:9-20 KJV
9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.
16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
