Salting Your Heart 02/14/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJames 5:1-8 KJV
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.Ripeness of love leads to marriage. Society today dictates we live for own desires and lust of the flesh and our hearts are nourished for the days of slaughter. Today is a sacred day of Cupid shooting his arrows desire of love lust, and immortality. Who is Cupid but a Roman and greek god that is honor on St Valentines Day, yet he a harlot to the principal of godly love. Yet St Valentine was a christian and a priest who married people who were forbidden to marry before military service during Claudus rule in Roman. St Valentine would do so anyway he was a Romatic and loved young love. He would become maryter for marrying young love before their time of duty. But neither Cupid or Valentine was to be worshipped but perhaps the symbolic nature of the two combines brings both the heathen and the Christian together in celebration of romantic love.
There many things to love in the world for it to holds value to our heart but the devil love is based on all sin and desires that is not in a right relationship with God. Love at first sight or a romance that builds a long and stable relationship is pf God. If I was to describe falling in love with my husband, I say Cupid shot his arrow but he missed when he thought he won. Our first kiss of passion may of increased our desire for each other, but relationship to new to have solid foundation of long term love had to be developed. I even wonder if we would make it past the first year, but a relation with a person takes work and when you know you meet Mr right or Ms. Right nothing else will matter because love will find a way to grow and become strong. Whether you marry quick or wait because of other circumstance then love will wait to be together.
When one receives Christ it is not always over a long waiting period to decide. If it is quick love in the heart must be established and must grow to build a strong relationship with God.
The other day I was praying for the language of that love. I not talking about a foreign tongue of communication but the tongue of expression of faith. I remember as a young Christian my heart rang right out of mouth with joy, faith, love and trust in Jesus. Somehow I dropped the ball in my communication of speech but not my fingers as far as typing. The songs of praise missing from my lips. I thought is there something wrong with my relationship with God. No, but I figured out I was missing that puppy dog relationship with God. Before I understood many things about who he is I fell in love with early love/puppy dog romance. When the solid rock/Jesus is planted in our hearts we grows to produce. It like a lump of coal that when placed in bowl it begans to grow after layering it with salt to form a crystal. A crystal becomes solid. Christ the solid rock grows Christians to be a fruit of his love. We do not start out solid in faith but we seasoned with salt. Our relationship takes time to grow though first love impressions can be instant like young puppy love.
Want that romantic not lustful love for Jesus it must be developed and grown with knowledge, wisdom and trust. God is waiting for his love to be ripe unto harvest so Jesus can come for his bride the spiritual church of faith in him.
Dear Heavenly Father grow that long lasting love in our heart for your Son Jesus that we remain growing on the solid rock of faith to produce fruit for you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
