The Big game who is your defence? One of the biggest games of the year makes only a good game if you have an umpire playing your defense with the rules of a game. The best Superbowl game is going to be governed by the best defensive rule investigator during times of opposition and rule bending to achieve a goaled. Yet the best game is one that follows the rules and does not allow the offense to rule the game no matter who side your on.
In the game of life you bend the rules the devil will take a mile. If your going to play defense you can not take a yard without following the rules. If I take the offense that the rules must be examined because I think the team defense action is wrong I better be right.
The other day I was watching a orthodox jew demonstrate the cleansing ritiuals of items before they could be used, even household items. I got aggravated and said what the difference in the water. The water that was cleansing/annointing the item for use is dirty looking. I also watch a kingly cermony and thought all these rituals seem unsuitable in my world. Then reality of culture vs beliefs and verse ideology of why things are done a certain way. It like cleaning a counter with one hand when other hand could and can be used. The rituals we do not consider rituals being part of the dance between couples and friends. Yet when it comes to the game of life. Do we play by the rules God designed for us or the rules designed by enemy as an offensive move against God.
Naaman questioned why the river jordan in II Kings 5. Moses question and disobey in his own anger as he hit the rock twice. The God's rule book already established the rules we play by yet are we offense or defence of those set rules. Can we prove our actions were by the rules. God knows the heart of man and his rules to live by. Our relation based on faith in Christ Jesus is more the faith in Christ but also if we follow the rules of his Spirit in all areas of our life. We might take offense to it at times and hit the rock like Moses twice and it cost him the prize at the end of the journey in the wilderness. Naaman obey the prophet of God and washed in filth of Jordan's water. When he did he was fully made whole from leprosy. Naaman's test was not the same as Moses but the end result was affected by obedience to God and His rules of law.
Our obedience becoming our defense, becoming part of our defence of winning the big game. The first is faith in Christ came in the flesh and is who we trust to win the biggest war/game of our life. Faith being first and our actions coming second.
Who is our defence God who has all the rules and power in the game of life and all offense called mercy reigns.Without God's mercy Moses would of lost entrance to two Promises lands the day he hit the rock twice. God mercy and defense is valuable in the game of life. Christ and His Spirit being our coach. Christ standing between the biggest umpire of the universe as we see and know it.
What team you play determines your eternal outcome. Christ cross might of took him to the grave but it brought him victory over death to return home alive after the resurrection. Our victory comes through obeying the will of God despite the cost knowing the hope he gives.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for being on our defense side with your Son and Holy Spirit. Guide us in best game plays in our life and keep us safely in your will with mercy granted in times of need. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
