Forgiveness With Correction
8/28/2024

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 17:1-4 KJV
1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Woe to the person that sins againt another. It easy to tell someone they must forgive but for some it be easy if they drowned themselves instead of seekong forgiveness, because not everyone forgives as God would. Forgiveness is something believers are called to do despite how many times a person sins against the believer. However the one that sin is not receiving forgiveness without a rebuke.

We often think our forgiving seven times seven comes without correction or confrontation of the wrong. God forgives but there are times when working through the sanctification process that God corrects and chastises a believer. As a Christian it not wrong to correct your brother's error. It is wrong to not grant forgiveness, because our Heavenly Father forgives us.

To live in the state of forgiveness one has to give up anger, hate, desire to murder at times and focusing on loving the person despite their faults just like God forgives us unconditionally because we are his children. Because Jesus paid the price for our sins once and for all when we confess, repent, seek forgiveness for one's sins.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your correction and help us to love and forgive those that offend or harm us. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
