To Make Peace
8/03/2024

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 41:9-13 KJV
9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
10 But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
13 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

David hands were tied as his son Absalom began to rise up against him. David took all his possession and women except ten concubines to take care of the castle(2 Samuel 15). David never got to make peace with his son. Absalom had beautiful long hair he wore up and with war comes strange but truth. Absalom riding on a horse in battle in a wooded area got his hair tangled in some tree limbs and found himself hung by his own beauty in those limbs where he died by the darts if Joab(2Samuel 18). David was able to bring Israel back together in peace though he was no longer respected by some of Israel. It had to do with Bathesheba affair because she was another man's wife who David had placed on the frontlines so he would die. It became public. His friends that ate David's table was his son Absalom and the part of Israel that rose up against him.

David's life was not perfect but he would re enter the castle in peace. He did not desire war with his son. He left castle for safety and peace. David knew he had the favor of the Lord because he had won many battles and made peace with his enemies. Yet he still would go into battle against his son.

Often heaven is compared to the time of King David's throne. Yet David was not perfect like Christ. Christ kingdomis one of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit and not war. We are on this side of heaven waiting for Christ return for a time of judgment and then peace. There things today argued about. Things concerning religious tradition and importance but it better to make peace with knowledge when someone with less understanding you might go along with to keep peace and also edification of each other. David's Psalms was about Asalom and men in the palace that betayed him. He did not want the kingdom ripped apart. Sometime men must go into battle to stablize peace. When it comes to religious tradition better to follow then make war. Romans 14 is about believers striving for peace that edifies each other.

Dear Heavenly Father, bring us to a place of peace not war. Knowing you win the war for peace that as believers you continue to enable us to strive in peace that builds each other up.In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 14:16-19 KJV
16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
