Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 2:7-17 KJV
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

There many first in scripture for God created the heavens and the earth. Man was created on the sixth day of creation. Is there reason God waited to the sixth day. I suspect God was preparing the heavens and the earth for you and me. God created the first man Adam he placed him in a garden in heaven. He gave the first man the first breath of air into his nostrils that brought forth life. He gave man not only the first place to live but the first job of taking care of the garden. This garden no doubt had to be prune and picked on a regular bases. Yet man on his own thinking has not even question God commands. In fact God gave him not only a job but knowledge of the knowledge of the tree of good and evil was not to be eaten. At this point Adam had broken no laws of God and was about tending his garden.

Now if you live in religious world the tree of immorality is forbidden, and the trees of other sins are forbidden. If you take a bite of gossip and use it, you become noted with sin of gossip. You just bore the fruit of death. Now most people might won why knowledge of anything would bring death. Why is the knowledge of good and evil so deadly. Might ask a cop that seeks revenge by the goodness of the law and not the betrayer of the law. Crime of evil can be force to be proven to be the legal act of accident and not sin of plot, or revenge. They know how to manipulate the law. It the same scenario if you know evil and the ability to repent which is good, then when you desire evil you just do evil and repent later. Adam had the tree of life to take care of but had not eaten of it. Adam was still developing before temptation came. He would be taking on greater task to come like name the animals in search of a helpmate. And dog lovers out there, the dog did not pass as equal. Nor could the dog be a spouse. However if man chosen dog he would had less trouble and some one always loyal. God created the first woman from Adam rib and she would be the first helpmate and mother of all creation. Yet she found out she had to learn from first curiousity and through disobedience. And the first sin came because of deceprion of what God meant concerning eating of the forbidden fruit. God's authority and knowledge questioned for first time.

When we sin we are questioning the authority we are under whether it be God, government, a boss and for children their parents, caregivers and teachers. We are told it okay to question authority in our society. What people fail to say there is sometimes consequence for asking. Abraham asked questions of God but not to challenge God's authority. Our sin comes when we think we know what best for us or others instead of trusting God's laws. Following our own desires and wants is also sin if it goes against God's authority, knowledge and wisdom.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to learn to trust in your authority and not our own. In Jesus precious name, Amen

Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 3:1-6 KJV
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
