New Beginings 4/01/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 24:47-53 KJV
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.There has been changes in our nation in the last ten years that shaken many of us. Yet with change came new beginings for some. Governments in most nations did not change. Though looking at maps I wonder what God will tear out next or replace. I wonder when Christ resurrect, why he did not destory the Old leadership in the temple, instead Roman would tear it apart with the fall of Jerusalem. Disciples and others went to temple rejoicing and blessing God.
Luke makes it seem like there was no change in religious order. Yet what had occured was not peace and safety. The disciples could not leave until the second blessing came upon them to give them power from on high. What had changed as far as religious order it is not made clear but who was coming is made clear.
Was the Jewish faith to be followed? Was the believer left under the authority once more of the temple after all they were praising God there, when Christ ascended up to God.
If Christ came to remove the sacrificial law did anyone know this? The noise or disturbance would not and did not set well for any of the jewish leader's that did not believe Christ arose. In fact Jews would convince Roman law to attack and persecute the early church.
We know disciples were waiting on the Holy Spirit coming to teach them truth. The coming of the Spirit would send the disciples out of Jerusalem.
One of the operations of the Spirit is to send one forth as a witness and testifer of faith. A new religious order among believers in Christ would build a new religious order called the Christian church. The division would come after the infilling of the Holy Spirit, along with truth of prophesy proven, between Christians and Jews. It would begin the persecution of the early church. Disciples would be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Works of God would magnify God to the world.
Dear Heavenly Father as we learn about new beginings help us to remember you are empowerer of your people. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: John 16:1-14 KJV
1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
