What Is God's Glory?
9/24/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 33:17-23 KJV
17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

What is God's glory? Some people today really miss the meaning of God's riches/glory/revence/power. In other words his wealth. Do you remember when Jesus was shown the world from on top mountain and all Jesus had to do was bow and worship him. You can not give anyone anything that already his. However if Jesus had bowed he would not have gone to the cross. Jesus stood before Pilot he did not bow but Pilot would wash his hands of it while bowing to the crowd to do as they please to crucify him.

What God's glory it not in his physical appearance but in the power in which his creation is made and manifested in our sight. Moses had seen the power and authority of Pharaoh in Egypt. When Moses shepard sheep in the fields of Midian he knew no doubt the presence and glory of God in the fire light of campfire burning bright. He seen God's beauty in the day and by the fire light and moonlight at night. Had he known he seen God's glory. Had he understood he was in the throne room of God. Most of look for regal work of man of construction of our buildings and the ray and splender. Remember the altar to be built with hew stone. Built with stones not carved or had mortar on. All images of things not created by man but in the beauty of God's throne room.

Strip mining takes away God's beauty and glory, but reminds the believers, he will destroy the earh, and that he building a new heaven and a new earth. A place not yet known to human hands. Man has no clue what earthly glory they destroy but they know the treasurers they have dug up including a few pandemics buried beneath the ground. God gives us earthly treasures for benefit, but leaves few lessons to be learned along the way.

God's glory/riches/power/reverence/creation seen by man with never seeing God. Moses was told by God that as he pass by he would cover his face with his hand and he only see his backside. He would not see God's face.

There more to God's glory then in his creation. It is the power to create to build without one stone out of place and shaped by his own hand. If you live in a city go visit a natural park that little change on the nature trail by man, get a tour guide, so you, city slickers, do not get lost. take bug repellant for your own skin. Wear old clothes and sit on the trail or by a stream and breath in the natural beauty around you. Mud and dirt never hurt anyone. After all some of those mud mask might just come from the region of the park you visit. One night wont kill you but the view will pentrate your soul and nature will teach you of God's ability to still out shine in the world of animated objects design by man. I dont doubt man design looks much like a cartoon to him. Moses seen what God left behind him. The results of his power.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to see your power, authority in the beauty of those things you leave in our wake. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 8:1-9 KJV
1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
