16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; The curriculum of hope begans with Abel being able to please Lord with his offering. The story of the flood giving the first hope to Noah and his family, that witnessed the worse storm on the earth with a sign of a rainbow of no more floods that would cover the whole earth.Genesis is a book of hope that begins with man finding favor with God through obedience and continues. The promise of eternal hope rising through the generations to come. Circumcision given to demonstrate this hope through obedience. Clearly God was teaching more then a physical action but also spiritual one, for Abraham would cut off his first born outside of marriage to embrace his heir by marriage of God choosing, and design for his eternal plan. When God asked him to sacrifice son he did not deny God but God provided the sacrifice. But Abraham knew his son could live through resurrection. God promise through his life was children as numberous as the stars.
God also promised Abraham's grandson, Jacob protection and hope in his journey. Joseph, Jacob's son, would find God's hope though his dream though it was foreign, to his family. It would give him hope til he finally was reunited with his family as he sat on the throne in Egypt over food provision and his family seen the dream come to fruition.
Is not our our eternal hope to be sons and daughters of God in eternity. This is our eternal hope through faith in Christ Jesus. The same righteousness that came by believing God's Word by the ancients in scripture, is the same word of God that is given as a promise as we believe in Jesus. This word of God came in the flesh as the Messiah.
I have left a bunch of verses for you for each story. You can take time to meditate on this Sabbath day about the hope through prophesy given to each man of faith. You can continue studying the issue of hope within the one book called Genesis. It is the one hope we share and that is in truth of God's precious word. What gives each of his children.
Dear Heavenly Father that you for your hope you give through your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 28:20 KJV
