Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 John 1:1-4 KJV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

2 John 1:1-3 KJV
1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

3 John 1:1-4 KJV
1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

First letter John writes is to the church but writes to testify to what he seen and heard in the days he walked with Jesus. The impact of this testimony and others would rock the known world for Jesus. John first letter is all about the love of God and the fact we should love one another. It important to note His first book being Gospels speak love of Jesus for the people. His theme did not change even with the threat and finally exile in the book of Revelations that speaks the wrath of God on the unbeliever. The love God remains on his people as he pours put his wrath on the unbeliever.

John's second letter/epistle, was written to elder and lady. The lady being perhaps reality the bride of Christ or church. Yet elected might of been a woman of nobility in church or the elder's wife. John theme of continuing in love never changes and he loved hearing the prosperity of the church/children as they grew in faith. Prosperity being Christian love.

John in the third letter writes Gaius's a beloved elder of the church. He rejoices because of the brethren sent to him to testify of the church. Imagine inability to visit and rely on letters because of distance and having people testifying of love of God within the church. A wonderfully feeling to here good testimony from other believers and fellowship when visiting.

Dear Heavenly Father we thank you for the testimony from John in scripture of your love for man. We thank for sweet fellowship that testify of the building up of the church. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 1:2 KJV
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

John 21:24-25 KJV
24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
