Peter's Letters 10/26/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Peter 1:1-5 KJV
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
2 Peter 1:1-10 KJV
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: Who is Peter writing to but the person that saved. Peter wrote two letters to the church. Technology has allowed the Bible to be readed by none scholars and scholars alike with ease. Getting many questions answered without a "hardback or leather bound Bible" and huge stack of books to aid a desk, instead Bible and aids fit in a small phone. What it has done is caused maybe none believers and believers alike to not grasp that all Scripture is for all to read but most promises are only to the believer in Christ Jesus. Peter calls people strangers because they yet to meet and yet he knows areas by name. It like foreign mission board of directors who may or may not have visit every country or state that they aid. Though there many representatives in these type of organizations it still hard for every director to visit every location themselves. Peter is leading the known church world through prayer, physical in some locations and by letter in other locations only by all by the power and Spirit of God.
Despite how many Christian organizations there are in the world all, things should be directed and in control by believers of faith despite that it seems the church government is forming almost a governing body to itself. Yet only those church groups that adhere to scripture and discuss scriptural interpretation dividing interpretation based on other scripture in many situations are only more concern about following God's Spirit and Christ Jesus, not leaving God the Father out because all are one. It great honor given to Peter and other apostles to lead the church world. Many look to these leaders chosen by God to help settle spiritual issues.
God is able to commune with all saints and even none believers, but does the believer listen or are we that intuned in faith to the will of God without leaders? Every believer is a work in progress. Every believer job is to strive to be like Jesus. Yet as new believers we are still learning to listen to God and divide God's word correctly. The older we get by spiritual birth we should become more like Christ/ God's word as we draw to be close to God.
Fallacy of faith is when we see no need of other believers in our life that striving in the same direction. We must remember blood of Christ is applied to every believer giving room for error, but always giving way to walk by faith in Christ as children fully elected by God's grace. The believers goaled being to walk in faith following Jesus and not the enemy. It easier to follow in sinful ways because the world cares not, but upon salvation the standard is set for the pathway one should follow which is toward Jesus.
Peter is writing the early church reminding them who they are in Christ and who they are to be in Christ, though they be strangers in person, they are brethren of faith and a child through Jesus work on the cross and through the lively hope of the resurrection. Peter a witness to testmony and life of Jesus himself.
Dear Heavenly Father help every believer to become like Peter in leadership and in faith in Christ. Becoming more like Christ in groups and places we serve to lead others in the direction to go to be disciples of Christ. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: 2 Timothy 2:15-16 KJV
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
