Preaching Hope 10/19/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisEzekiel 1:1-3 KJV
1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
2 In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,
3 The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.
I really needed to slow down a bit on Isaiah and Jeremiah because both are different dates. Jeremiah came after Isaiah. Ezekiel takes place in Babylon in the land of the Caldeans. Several kings and rulers in this region. I for one am not a world class historian. I had to be remind of the Palastine state declared by the U.N. in 2014 AD, the other day. It is important to retain this information to understanding peace despit scrimages that still go on by terrorist group with the current war being caused by Hamas. Israel an others that are against terror and acts of war join together to fight our enemies. We need to be praying because Jesus is coming.
Like I said history is weak point but in reality the prophesy of Ezekiel you find the prophet Ezekiel in a foreign land in exile, the land of the Caldeans part of Babylonian Empire. I usually brushup on history still have to repeat because in my youth prophesy were not study or taught much. Why is it not taught probably because if the topic of destruction and God's wrath, or was the subject was going to or had been discussed and I moved, missing lessons either way.
If all Bible teachers taught only love and hope the reality of God judgment on the earth would not be understood. It like fire and tornado drills. Now in school shootings and drills in class rooms do have a purpose. What purpose does it play in the life of children to young adults. If a crisis ever occurs maybe one will think and find safety in their situation. It is for survival skills. 911 only proved people knew to hit the fire escape because of being taught in school. How many subconciously make ourselves aware of exits in a building even if doors are locked.
The study of prophesy gives hope of eternal escape from the wrath of God even while in exile on planet earth. Hope in troublesome time is very real. Whether we just feeling birthing pains of the earth as it labors to remind people of God, or rumors of war and actual war bring life, faith and hope to new believers. May the reality of Christ(living word) prophesies speak of eternal salvation in Christ alone. Ezekiel was on journey not only into exile but to preach those events that occured as they began to happen to bring hope despite destruction.
Most of the prophetic books tell there own time period of things to come and have come. Study, read, and learn the hope God gave his people being warned before, going and in exile.
Dear Heavenly Father may your speak hope to those hearing the sounds of your judgment to come, Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: 1 Peter 1:7-11 KJV
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
