turtle30cshell Daily Devotions For November 22, 2023
Day 22 of Our Thanksgiving Countdown
11/22/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Colossians 2:6-7 KJV
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Are you rooted in Christ today. Sitting wrestling with God's first calling of Abraham and Jesus calling of his disciples. The other day was in a store and had to ask a person that was doing stock work if he could get an item for me. He came willing to assist me, but did not follow my footsteps. There are things people ask for assistance in doing everyday and people follow willing to help. It not always about leading but in God's case it would be. Most of us today if someone said, "come God said do this", we probably would not follow without the Holy Spirit prompting us to follow. We would hopefully pray about it. There was man named Rev Jim Jones who betrayed many people and took them to Jonestown Guyanna in Northern part of South America and there was a mass suicide lead by Jim Jones. I was little girl watching the news and family talking and then as adult watchings films on these events. Most wonder how could this happen and other dangerous groups have risen since that time. If I could convince one person that knowing your Bible whether believe in God and definitely before you trust any minister then that what I will tell you. There many good ministers and teachers out there. However if you believe God is real then you know he has the power to speak to your heart, before any leader that tells you to follow them. Peter own following came with being at the baptism of Jesus.

Abraham followed the voice of God to the promise land with other people going with including his half sister and wife Sarah. Jesus called his disciples some being kin by his birth and theirs and some no direct lines at all though they be Jewish. These men would be called disciples of Jesus. They would not be the only ones to follow. Jesus throughout his ministry even told why some would not follow. Why follow because his word is proven to be real in our own life. The conviction in our own life coming from the Holy Spirit. God speaks about not just about heavenly places but about our journey on earth to our hearts of things we would not know without God's Spirit.

We follow Christ starting not only at his birth based on time of the Messiah coming, but also what God spoke himself in all four Gospels starting at the baptism. We follow because of miracles, wonders and so forth. Jesus taught about the love of God. With his resurrection not only prophesied but happen and many disciples followed from his home in Galilee where he spent 40 days with his disciples until his ascension up to heaven. Our roots of faith must go beyond first conviction or the root with root and not having a firm hold to the rock, chief cornerstone that builds us up in faith through his word and journey of faith. No one goes willingly to die for anyone else without conviction. Soldiers die in battle with a conviction to serve their country to protect it. We walk in faith even dying in faith to share the hope of faith. Christian dont kill for faith but only battle for a nation for the purpose of that country even at times of disagreement. Those of faith in disagreement with God has yet to seen the full picture of God's will and purpose for their life.

When I say in Christ know the fullness of why you believe at the moment and give honor, and glory through praise of thanksgiving to him. Know the reason you praise him when the rest of your life is a mess and when it seems to be in a perfect shape no repair work need. Know Jesus is your one and only Savior throughout eternity.

Dear Heavenly Father may our roots wrap tight on the solid roots of faith that are in Christ your Son. Help trust your word because of evidence in our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
