Day 13 of Our Thanksgiving Countdown 11/13/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisDaniel 6:6-11 KJV
6 Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
Praying despite what officials tell you to do in Daniel day did not cost him his life but he could of lost his life if it hadn't been the will of God.. He was willing to be thrown into the lions den. Most people with common sense would just say Daniel shut the window, just do not kneel where others can see you. Daniel's God did not forget him in exile.
If every Christian would bow and give thanks in public would we be asked to leave? People the revival of our nation is still possible. Thanksgiving is not just in our stomaches but must come from the heart.
This month is a time of thanksgiving are we ashamed of our faith to the point we are ashamed to pray in a restaurant. Are we afraid to pray for the sick, the lonely, those mourning in the need of prayer in the store or whisper or shout the name Jesus.
I live in an area where many still pray and carry there Bible. I carry one in my purse but I carry one on my phone. People still praise God in my town. There are towns and areas these things do not happen often. Why is it important to share our faith and to praise God outside our doors. Christian we do need to testify of God's blessing in our life. However I am as guilty as the next of showing my true emotion and not always shouting the blessings of God in my life.
Not all ministers can say they never meet a stranger they seen the world as one big family in need of a Savior. If it was not for family members and friends watchful eyes who know where some of these ministers would land up. Some in a lions den preaching to the lions as they walked around. Yet the lions did not touch Daniel why because the miracle was to do the will of God before king and princes of the land to testify of God's power. Are we bold enough to take on lions?
Dear Heavenly Father you are King of kings and Lord of lord during the days of Daniel when you shut even the mouths of lions. Daniel did not quit praying and your protection was in his life. Even the king would worship Daniel's God. We say Lord thank you for what you do for us in the presence of our enemies. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Thanksgiving Countdown Thankful list Week 2: 8. Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 23:3-6 KJV
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever http://www.turtle30cshell.com
