To Build Up Faith
5/19/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Galatians 2:16-21 KJV
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

At one time Jews thought they were justified by obedience to law, yet justification came always by faith. Noah justification came by his righteousness/faith that was before the law. Yet the law became a huge stumbling stone of right and wrong, of things God allowed and was acceptible to him. In that since the law is something to follow but not something to worship or to obey to get extra crowns, and extra points when entering the pearly gates. The law was never to be a task master but it became a task master through out the Jewish history of legalism verses faith. Many obeyed the law without believing in God or his word. Many understood submission to the law but not in the regards of faith. That why Christ had to suffer and die to show how we are not justified by the law but by faith in God. Faith in God's word that say God so loved the world that he gave his only beotten Son that whosoever belief in him should not perish but have everlasitng life, John 3:16. It became to believe in Jesus, to believe in the one he sent to be the redeemer of the whole world.

Faith now being established in his Son, His Son who is also the spirit of Prophesy and the Word in the flesh. Our eternal salvation in Christ, our earthly salvation coming through obedience of the Spirit who writes the laws on our hearts. Christ comes to do more then just establish the issue of faith, but to establish his desire to draw all people to him from every tongue, every nation including Israel. First to Israel and then the Gentiles, Gentiles were already hearing the Gospel before the crucifixion, but the purpose of the crucifixion explained to the Gentiles so they know the law was broken by God's own hand as allowing his Son to die in the place of mankind.

People of Law began to persecute the people of faith. God's purpose had been revealed and not understood. One has to look at Noah life and understand it was God's grace that Noah and his family of eight were saved. Eight counting Noah his wife and three sons and their wives. Noah being saved by the obedience to God words, but his eternal security saved by his faith in God. Christ had to come and show that the law had no spiritual power. Yet the law on its own taught how one should live, the law having a purpose but it could not save a soul, only God's word could save a soul when one believed by faith and faith alone in the word/Christ Jesus in the flesh and God the Father.

If you want to see your church grow and your community change stop chasting by the law and talk about faith. The law being something obeyed but not revenced in the way God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is through faith. We can not build our faith upon the law, it must come through faith in the reality of God. Lay aside the weight of the law and look to the author and finisher of your faith his name is Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, you grace is sufficient, Your love for us when you sent your Son first by speaking to the people and then in the form of the flesh, and then in the words of prophesy to demonstrate who you are. Help us to lord to have the faith to know no one is cast out if they will only believe in you, your Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 12:1-4 KJV
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Psalm 147:1-5 KJV
1 Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
2 The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
