The Purpose Of Life
5/15/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Proverbs 6:6-15 KJV
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

I be truthful if you never set a goaled in your life to achieve retirement and disability is not for you. It is the struggle of the mundane life that one might find hard. I woke to words that hit me as discouragement only to wonder what is God speaking to my heart about. I see a lot of disabled online struggling with just basics in life and as well as struggles I understand myself. Getting up in the morning is often a chore for the elderly and/ disabled right more so then anyone else right. I mean the routines seem far to long to just get out of bed and get ready for some. I can remember as a child being told no certain time to get up. I would be up at the crack of dawn ready to get my little life ready for whatever life held for it that day, then I grew into a teen that even on days of something to do, chore of getting up seem impossible because my mindset was not on what the new day bring but it was just another day. Then in college to sleepy to get up, did that alarm really go off, err. Then the housewife i get up when I ready, at least by lunch to fix hubby a meal. Then the retirement for hubby seemed maybe a constant fight to wake early and go to bed early, staying up because of unable to sleep, wanting to do something other then to try sleeping so we arise and find a movie and watch it, make a snack and so forth. Even went shopping in the wee hours of the night when Walmart was 24 hour store. How cov changed our life. Let me not leave out the years of getting up and typing for the Lord, wake up with a purpose and a project ready to go. Never empty of my task at hand.

If I could speak to the world on one thing wake to a purpose, to a new goaled in life. What changed one's goaled. I loved studying my Bible in the morning times, that goaled was set long before I typed, though there were years of absense from my Bible. It was wake up and start your day and listen to God my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. To feel wow by the Spirit of God over just simple thought or verse in scripture. It gave the morning meaning, and the rest of the day not seeming to bad. In times of struggle of the mundane life style of never getting out and adventure beyond the door can seem fruitless. The cabin fever, the I do not feel good, the loneliness of absence of seeing humanity out the front door. Yet forced to carry on. How do you cope so long when one wants to soar be adventurous. Those that are little busy bees never struggle the same way as the sluggard. The ant seems busy, ready to rise and get the work all done. The work never fully completed but the task is set for the very next day. The chores, the work, the schooling, the adventures of life seems to flood the ant to work even harder for the next vacation, the next adventure out the door.

The ability to make one's own adventure even in the mundane world is a chore. A chore loved or hate depending on the circumstances that it presented itself. One can look at the world as a learning playing ground, or look at it as a stumbling block of no hope for the future we wait for. Is the glass half full or is it half empty mindset. The opening of the refrige door and I looked to still see food, if so we not starving mindset though the road just came to a hard right turn that says one might not make it through the next storm. It the struggle of life for those that can not make up their mind to achieve something during the day and only seeing their cup half empty and not half full.

If one can look at the day of striving and thriving in whatever shape one is in. Giving meaning to task at hand and not to the fruitlessness of one's labor. When God says he will destroy the earth, it like why get up and why work if it just going to be destroyed mentality that will not get one foot out the door to be adventurous. It the sluggard that watches the world and never sees the purpose of the busy ant, or the buzzing of the bee that stares you down as you go out the door trying to decide whether to sting you or not.

Can you set a goaled, that number one solution for your day, so what no one else cares about your goaled but you. It what you want to achieve that day, that pulls you out of bed and keeps one foot in front of the other so to speak. Life is short, God will one day destroy the whole earth, but meantime we better explore the world we are in, have the adventure outside the door. Dream, hope and rise up without considering the things lost that can not be replaced. The value of egg carton to create something new from it.

Jonah watched a gourd grow and he watch the cankerworm destroy the vine that gave him shade the day before. He looked and knew one day Nineveh would be destroyed but right now it was saved by the preaching of the word, but Jonah is angry that destruction did not come to Nineveh. Yet when the gourd vine is destroyed his heart broken because it purpose of it was to provide shade in the heat of the day or so it seemed for him, and now the sun was shine hot apon his head, maybe even giiving him a migrain to boot. Then God's speaks and says you had pity on the gourd but not the city of Nineveh which gave you nothing, but the gourd gave you shade. There people in the world that sees no value in what you do nor cares what you do, but God sees all and those things to perserve to boost life is the things God values in our human soul. It the hope our soul brings by the labor, by worship of God for the work of our hands, for the glory he receives from man for the hope he gives first to man before the praises are ever sung.

If our sole purpose in life is to praise and honor God above all, the work of our fingers will be destroyed, then we can rest assured in his promises that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord. What purpose is all these other things giving man a chance to know God to plan for the journey yet to come when this life is over to the promise land of faith that awaits us as children of God. Train a child to do something, and that training and ability will continue in task that will come. You start learning how to do a handcraft project and in many cases the project can increase to different levels of difficulty. What that level of difficulty brings is often skills that can go toward other crafting skills and design. Ability to create intricate design work. We work and we create to the glory of God not understanding these things will pass away.

The last invention that was created you remember and what did it replace. Though the old invention might be working how has the new invention improved life. Our labor in this world is for our own comfort and the comfort of others. It bears fruit if what we create is helpful to mankind, what is not helpful is considered a waste of time. When you home idle what can you do to change the environment your in, the situation you find yourself in. If it to care for a neighbor, to pray for a friend that is your goaled to help in the improvement of another life. Praying for another, caring for another improves life. Find yourself on your back you can pray. Find yourself with to many irons in the fire step back and say what is not beneficial to me, my family, to God, to the health and well being of one's self and others. Remove it out of the fire. Let the fire of destruction destroy the thing that is not reflection of God's word. Not a reflection of good works. It can be drugs and alcohol, it can be a lack of spending time with family or friends, destroy the things that stop you from loving yourself and God first. Let God send the cankerworm to destroy the shade so you can see the application of the heat in the sun. Then look at the gourd and be reminded of compassion of God of the banner of love over one's life to protect you when you deserves the fires of hell.

Our job to look at the intricate artwork in our world as far as politics, the globe economy, our own economy and the accomy of our nation and say how is it benefiting people of our nation to buy or to stock up for trouble ahead. If the economy is on the brink of disaster the only course is to plan ahead for destruction, if it is on the rebound stock is still a course of action, because if the world economy still collaspes one still has provision, but to enjoy the economy healing one must continue to buy. Still with the mindset it could yo yo still for awhile.

The intricacy of the world seeming far more out of sync to fully grasp how our world so combined into our local and home economy the world just sits and stares and wonders what can really improve the state of emergency many families find themselves in and the only recourse is to keep working and plugging ahead and everything going to be alright says the ant, only for him discover his ant house was picked up by a child and shaken because he though it was a hour glass of time in a box. Ant goes back quickly gathering all that survived the earthquake and begins to rebuild his box again, for the child to repeat his action of shaking his home.

World we are moving forward for what purpose to bring God glory and honor by our ability to hold to his hope in a dying world. A world that decays with each passing day while our own demise is planned by God to hopefully join Him and his Son in Glory. Our flight not ready, but God's grace in the shaking of the box we live within to move about in the world as it is. To teach the love of God that in our future there is hope within for each new day of hope.

Our labor is not in vain as long as we continue toward life with the fruit that does not end called faith, love, peace, joy, and hope. Dont' be the sluggard only to watch, be the prayer warrior if you are on your back and if you upright moving around be fruitful in whatever task you find yourself doing for the glory of God's eternal Kingdom. Our work is for a purpose. Be not the sluggard.

Dear Heavenly Father, let life mundane be changed to a life of faith, hope, love and more. With the call of action to go into the world with faith, hope and love help our actions bring forth fruit of your Spirit and even our thoughts as we strive to make our world a better place. Let us see the value not just in our own life but the life of others. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Jonah 4:7-11 KJV
7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.
8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.
10 Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
