What Your Gift 3/29/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 25:14-29 KJV
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
What your gift? What is the talents God has give you, whether in church or outside the church, it matters not. God gives all us talents to use. You see these wealth men and women and you wonder why they are wealthy. If they were not born with a silver spoon they had talent in some field of business. Whether you have a gift of helps, or talent of singing, dancing, working in a store, cooking and so forth it matters not these are gifts from God both to the believer and unbeliever. Yet if we do not use our talents God is going to give our gifts to someone else. He may give someone more talent then you, but you have a responsibility to take your talent and use it for good and help it to multiply.
It cost money for some talents to produce and be fruitful in our age but other things it takes very little talent or talent at all, it is part of life. It like cleaning house, or cooking, a basic necessity in life but not all are excellent cooks and not all are good at the career of choice, but they have talents. Finding the best fit for you must come with understanding what your talents are and what they can be. How much pressure in those fields can you handle. Some love the crowd and others will they do not. Some love just doing what they do and do not desire to be rich or even famous beyond a dream. Others work hard to achieve their dreams and goals, working double shifts, overtime and so forth. God has gifts that he give his children that love him, that have to do with work of the ministry. Some of his children hide their talent, some use their talent to multiple and others use there talent to at least to produce and maybe not alot but it is increase. God also knows if you not using talent then it needs to go to someone, wh will use it for his glory. We talk about this little light of mine I am going to let it shine. We have to understand that the light shining for Jesus is for a purpose. It to help others see Jesus.
Some people hide their faith on shelf, others open display their faith on their clothing and their actions. Others display their faith by mission work, and sharing with those they come in contact with. Some share nothing at all. I be honest I not an evangelist at times and other times I can not shut up about Jesus. It those quiet times, I sometimes wonder why I am quiest and why I am not speaking out. Then I realize God's Spirit sometimes silence us, to listen to hear, to be intuned to the time to speak and the time to be quiet. No one hiding the light of Christ if God is silencing, but to hide his light and not shine for Jesus but to shine for the enemy afraid to speak for Jesus when called to use our talents and we do not, those gifts need to be removed. God does not give you a gift to hide it, but to allow his light to shine through you.
Dear Heavenly Father, help and enable us to let our light shine for you. May your light shine in the talents and gifts you give each of your children. May we shine for you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 5:14-16 KJV
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
