My Lord Said To My Lord
3/23/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 22:34-46 KJV
34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

Lord said to my Lord, David is speaking of God the Father and the Son a depiction of heavenly realm. Depiction of duties of God the Son followed in the verse preceding in Psalms 110:1. Christ was coming to crush the enemy and he would be a High Priest in the order of Melchisedek. He would of a priesthood that had no end. Important here, because many look for the authority of a kingly rule and not a priestly rule when it comes to Christ, but in reality he becomes a Priestly ruler and not just one of government authority in the end of time as you and I know it. Christ in his kingdom will rule with his Father. As one and perhaps even seen in two persons. The other day I was watching a video of a man trying to describe the authority of Jesus name in regard to the Priest and the New covenant combined, leaving out the need for God the Father, but with out the Father there is no Son. We see two beings though they be one to define the position of each part of the Godhead bodily.

To some I just spoke greek and to others that been following my writing for sometime or know their scripture well, understand I just spoke volumns of truth in one short paragraph. Jesus does not explain it how David could say "The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, til I make thine enemies thy footstool. David only had a kingdom and his Son would one day come into power and he was the King that put peace into the kingdom of Israel while his great grandsons would cause the kingdom to divide. He would also loose part of the kingdom to his Son Absalom until Absalom was killed. David not speaking of himself or even sitting beside King Saul and speaking this. This is a heavenly type of vision of David, speaking of spiritual king. It can not be David though Jesus would be from his tribe and his blood line. This is speaking of God the Father and the Son. Jesus would put away the enemy called death.

Now lets go back up to the begining of this portion of scripture. What must one do to enter the kingdom of heaven. They need to love God and to love their neighbor as oneself. Now in the new kingdom who is on the throne, is it man or God. In the New Jerusalem it is God and his Son, they are the light to the kingdom of God and the pathway in which one can enter into the kingdom of God. If we walk by the Spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Our flesh is dying that is a give me, but what is our Spirit, living or dying? We are dying to self daily when we walk not in the Spirit. We are living to God when we walk by Spirit in obedience to his word. If you want to say earth is our training ground as believers for our next life to come. For the New Jerusalem to come. Love essential both to God and our neighbor. We can love without being saved, it is a natural part of humanity that is good and feels good. However the first commandment is to love God first and foremost. How many of us fail to say I love you Lord and to obey his commands, to obey His Spirit to love our fellowman.

Love is the hardest thing we learn to do, though it should be a natural act of faith, because of his love for us while we were yet sinners Christ would die for the sins of the world and rise again on the third day, breaking the chains of eternity of hell, for all that would believe in him and receive him as Lord. Yet we must strive to love God and to love our neighbor. In loving our neighbor we often find ourselves understanding the love of God has for you and I. It is the act of love in times one wants to hate that supercedes human concept of the natural urge to hate, and seek revenge when forgiveness seems near impossible. It the difference of seeking revenge or forgiving despite how one feels that breaks the bonds of chains the enemy wants to try and lasso us with dragging us into hell because they can not set themselves free of those bonds that chain them to hell before they understood right from wrong. It through love our neighbors and our friends can understand the grace of God and his power to break the chains through Christ forgiveness on the cross setting us at liberty and not to be entangles by the bonds of this world. Preparing us for the world to come. We must learn to love God and to learn to love our fellowman. Yet the word learn is key, it something commanded to do, but as a believer I can tell you it something you learn to do, it not easy as one gets older it seems to get harder. That why learn to obey God's Spirit and not our natural instincts because we born into the world of sin is important. Retailation is not the solution, and yet there a time to stand up for one rights by the laws that are suppose to protect us in our nation. Yet what we find often is our nation is not our protector by God's Spirit is. His Spirit can keep us from trouble and when trouble still finds us God is wanting to demonstrate his power to the enemy. What is our job but to love God and to love our neighbor. This law never changed even with the cross of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you saying I love you and I lift my voice in praise to you for the love you gave to me. Help me to love my neighbor even when I do not desire too. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 110:1-7 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
5 The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.
7 He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.
