Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 22:15-22 KJV
15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

I took and gave some books away and did not write my name in the book as asked too. The reason I did not was simple enough it depreciates the value of the book, and they were hard back and not paperback. It sounds silly really to think on it, but value of items change with the messing up of a book, a video, a timeless piece of antique. To restore something of value must have at least orignal parts and painted the same, and a little patena is important for dating purposes that it truly a piece of antiquity. A piece of timeless treasure restore to it's natural beauty. Value maybe even far greater in the object. A disciples with the Herodians group of Pharisees came to Jesus and said, "Master is it lawful to give tribute to Ceasar"? Realize they did all the proper speech before the question to butter Jesus up with their knowledge of how great a teacher and that he was a person that care for the flock of God.

Jesus in return is not so nice to them and knew they were asking trying to tempt him and he calls them hypocrites. He says who picture is on the coin, then give him the coin, and unto God give him the things that are his. Even they that question Jesus marveled at this words and went their way. These lines of questions seem like what is the point. It like a picture the other day I seen two stick figure and on the picture, the first stick figure was a full person, the second stick figure only had his head draw. but the picture said he lost his lines(meaning the lines of legs, hands and body). My response was at least he did not loose his head. The obviousness of the situation is often we see what missing, but do we see what there. Jesus is point out what appears to be Caesars and maybe not be Caesars. If we believe God created all things, then he created the metal that coin is made of but Caesar stamped his picture on it. Yet Caesar thought he owned the known world. Sometimes we have to look at the power play of words. Jesus was a master of words, after all he was and is the word of God. The Pharisees sought to kill Jesus, and they would give to God what was God by trying to send his Son back to him, through killing him.

Are we in place that God power is not understood, nor God power is received as being from him? Are we failing to see the importance of God's word. The power struggle of allowing God to rule in his kingdom in heaven and on earth. If God word says if we look to Jesus we will be saved, there must be a God to believe in, to make such a claim and order to those that believe in God. Jesus proved that not all look to him that believe in him, for when Peter stepped on the water did he not look away from Jesus, and Jesus have to not only lift him out of the water but help him into the boat of safety. Jesus understands about our storms that we look away from him, or are entangled and entrapped by the things of this world, but if we look to him, what does he do he removes the traps and entanglements that keep us focus on him. He lifts us up. We can not look left or right but must stay focused on him. Meaning the trap the Herodians were trying to trap him with had only the merit of a coin with inscription that was visible and a picture of Caesar's face. Give to Caesar what he thinks is his. Give him his booty, or treasurers and God will take them from the pirate ship or destroy it all. For he has the power to recreate, to bring about new things in a world we yet to step into. God not concern about material possession of things of this world. God is concerned about the people of this world. Herodians knew Jesus cared about the sheep, but what they had no comphrension of his lack of care of the material world they lived in. Jesus had the power to restore, to gain, to create without one need of the material things of this world in which we live. His power to produce did not rely on things he provided for man to create from. Water turned to wine, created by substance of God, but not of the substance design by God to make wine. There was no grapes to be fermented in time for the vats of water for the wedding. Jesus water turned into pure wine. Caesar coin had little value to him. Are we trusting in the things we see or in the things unseen today. Are we trust in the power of Caesar or the power of God and the things God can supply without the material world in which we live in.

Dear Heavenly Father, our earthly gain is often what we see with our eyes and yet we understand the power of Jesus to create for the needs we have by his power and not by materials of our world. Help us to trust in your supply and not the things of Caesar. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: John 2:1-11 KJV
1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
