In The Image Of Christ 3/14/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJohn 11:47-57 KJV
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
I do not have the time I really would want on this passage but I am backtracking through the Gospels a little. Not sure if John is preparing the reader for Jesus death, or this was a full year before the passover before the current year pasover, meaning whether this was after the second year of Jesus earthly ministry. It is however to note that it claims a year. I believe there some accuracy in time frame to prophesy of one man must die for the nation. It came from the religious leaders. Was this prophesy one designed and plotted by man alone, or one of God? If you say God then you have to accept the religious leaders despite the fact they were suppose to work for God were not completely evil but protective of their faith and religious freedom they had under Roman Law. If you say from God only then you have accept that God's will was for the religious leaders to begin their plot against Jesus. If you say that it was both then you accept that God set a lying spirit of deception upon the religious leaders and their no evidence ot it, beyond the blinders God had put on the eyes of the religious leaders to not understand his purpose for sending his Son to die on the cross. They were ever seeing and yet never perceiving the will of God. They were listen to their needs and not God's will for Jesus or themselves. They were caught up in the freedom march and not the will of God's sovereignty in Jerusalem and beyond as ruler and leader of the heart and mind. They were allowed to pacify their desires, instead of the need of the people to keep peace and tranquility for that day and time by Roman law and not God's law.
There is struggle in man to follow God's leadership and allow the law of man to collaspe and be destroyed. The law of man is written for all, but chiefly for those that believers would call sinners. If the believer follows the will of God the law of man probably will not be broken unless it comes to the worship of God and protection of God's Holy Word. The question comes do you believe in God protection. Do you believe in God's power to protect his people from sinning against the law of man as long as it does not obstruct faith in God.
There will always be in the world place that do not honor or protect God's word. Yet there place that will always protect it by the law without obey law of man. It writen law of religious freedom is in our land, but how many states respect that one law. and goes about protecting God's people. It more let God protect his people in some places and forget their human need of protection. Yet our founding Fathers stood on religious freedom after leaving England. It as important that they penned it in the constitution of our land. It is when religious freedom obstruct the activities in school in such away that timing for expression is not called for. When religious speech takes away from activities one is participanting in, one has to ask, is a reminder at the present of God needed. Middle of business meeting, is the minder of God's sovereignty needed, depends on who you ask, but is what you do really affecting others when you bring God sovereignty into the middle of the table. Meeting about dog food commercial and topic is taste. The answer is not necessary now but strike a religious discussion with your peers later. Dog praying over his food bowl then yes it might be able to be worked in.
Bible reading was still a little common in my early school develop and even high school. Prayer was common still in the class room and it was a public school. There was transition coming and even the pledge was taken away from American school children. When we remove all transitions sacred to American principals we remove the fundamental knowledge of law and order of our nation. Who is removing these laws the enemies of our nation. It not just Bible and prayer, but it is all things known to our constitution founding fathers. Where is our ideas of freedom going, and how are they shaping our children's lives? In history class you hear about freedom but when kids are not allowed to dye their hair, or some other crazy dress thing of this century, then we have to ask what are we teaching people. It does not bother me to see people with dye hair working in office or other establishment why should it bother you, it is called freedom. Now if they working and they did not start out clean going to work I guess you might ask about germs and health. These dress ideas are freedom of expression, does not make man evil. What makes man evil is the heart and soul of the person.
Back to prophesy where do religious leaders become so tolerant of society that anything around them can go what happens when religious leaders get corrupted. In the Temple it had become corrupt by the idea of freedom. In the church structure is important, but in public eye freedom is more important so freedom to share one's faith will not be silenced. Church structure means the laws of God are taught, the ways of God are taught, and the need for Christ is seen and received by all believers. The idea of man's corruption and the need of Savior. In the home faith is taught to what bind in our hearts and our soul in the way we live and communicate in the world. And sometimes none of these place we are, seem to match our trure conviction. It a confusing mess. However when you were in public did your heart change for God if it did you are just an old hyprocrite. If your faith in God was seen public was it seen in your actions. Our actions are not always godly, nor are they always where they should be, but are we striving to live for Jesus even publicly and not only behind closed doors. Religious leaders in assemblies and in the public eye were still the religious people guiding the people and behind the door they plotted for their own ability to have freedom by the laws of Roman and protection of Roman that would cause the temple to one day be destroyed.
Our freedom in our faith comes with our very actions on how we treat others. Whether we demonstrate love or backward behavior of standoffish and judgmental. One day someone I knew actual came up to me to tell me about her boyfriends. Not one boyfriend but multiple lovers. Not the conversation I wanted to hear, did I want to tell her about sin in scripture What do you tell the person go and sin no more. That may stop the conversation dead. Or will you say I am praying for you, despite her activity. There was point her speech was of her lifestyle where ever she went. You knew and others knew she was what she was and care nothing about what any one thought including inside the church. That where God showed me something important we are often who we really are whether in public, behind closed doors or in even a church building. We seldom hide because of our freedom of our land. There are things that says we are okay but in God's eyes we are truly not. Sin was entering into the Temple as religious leaders sought how they might destroy Jesus. Might destroy forgiveness and love. Might destroy the teacher of faith that even taught against things that were not of the heart, that did not corrupt man. Like picking corn on the Sabbath.
Is our freedom effecting our faith to the point we are not who we should be as children of God. The religious leaders were corrupted by their freedom and desire of not wanting to rock the boat of their lifestyle. Do you want God to rock your boat to the point your on your knees and the storm of your faith, is saying you need not only the altar of faith, but the need of Christ to penetrate the heart to still one's soul into his likeness. Beware of those that control prophesy. Beware of those that prophesy and it can only be God, because they are close to God in Spirit and know the will of God not only in the world but in their heart.
Dear Heavenly Father shape our heart and soul into your likeness of your Son, that we live for you and your will in our life, that our desires of freedom is not corrupting our submission to your will. Help us to conform to your Son's likeness and use our freedom int he world to do just that even when the world understands it not. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
Romans 12:1-3 KJV
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Colossians 2:2-10 KJV
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
