Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 21:10-17 KJV
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
17 And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.

I believe Jesus had seen enough inside the Temple in Jerusalem that belong to his Heavenly Father for it was his earthly house. In fact so much so when he enter the temple instead of showing the money changers who he was as the Son of God coming in peace, he took and he demonstrated his authority and judgment as the Son God and turned their tables over. They had come with no respect to the house of God, those setting at the table selling their wares. Now Matthew account does show the picture of Jesus continue in the temple to heal the blind and the lame who came to him. The religious leaders were displeased because they called Jesus the son of David. Jesus said unto them "Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and suckling thou hast perfected praise. He left and he went outside the city and lodge in Bethany.

Now I could go on and tell the whole story today but I am not. Like this past week we going to look at evidence to what happened in the temple if there is any that would say what Jesus done, was done in such a way that deserved death. The answer will be no. It leaves the Christian as a believer struggling with the reason they crucified Jesus. Any information on this event will not change what would occur or what would happen to Jesus in regards to the cross. Yet it would shape the outcome of his death and his ability to raise again, all because of the God the Father's will.

Sometimes scripture is all you need and other times you need information our Bibles do not share with us without digging for it elsewhere. I hope what this study to the cross does will help you look beyond your Bible for information when reading. Especially for things you do not understand. Names are clues, to historical accounts. Bible dictionaries are handi for study, and availability of original Greek and Hebrew dictionary with keys for english translation it helps greatly in understanding certain events a little clearer. Be not afraid to examine from more then one source.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to study your word to examine the evidence in the story to the cross. To help us to understand your will, was performed by the cross and resurrection. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 8:1-2 KJV
1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
