Lord Is My Rock, My Fortress And My Deliverer 6/30/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
2 Samuel 22:2 KJV
2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
How many believe the Lord is their rock, their fortress and their deliverer today? David enemies had all been subdued and Saul was dead. David praise the Lord. He found that the key to his success was who he made His Rock, His Fortress and His deliverer. The early church would be built on the who Christ is and was. Jesus prophesied this to Peter. Many believe the Continual Scripture Study passage in the book of Matthew implies Peter would build the church. Peter is only man, the true church of faith is spiritual and built on the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter was a disciple and an Apostle of Jesus. He lead the church by the Holy Spirit. He was not the church, only part of the church part of the administrative team and part of apostleship, teachership and discipleship. He had to trust in God the same way as David did in his life. The Holy Spirit spoke who Jesus was to him. David knew from battle, from the open field and even in the temple who God was to him. He was his rock and his fortress and his deliverer.
What does these two passages have in common in the solid foundation of faith in which without God and his word/Son manifesting in the lives of the people they would not know that the foundation stone is God's word/Jesus and faith in God. God is the protector of both his word and us. God is our safety net, or capture, the one that surrounds us and holds us in his arms to stand firm in faith. God being our fortress, like a castle is against the enemy. I surprised when I looked up fortress to find the word net there. Yet when we are in God's safety net, God protection by his laws and his word, then we have no need to worry if God will deliver. He is our stronghold, he is the one that will protect tell it time of our earthly departure. Meaning no weapon formed against us will not what? No weapon formed against God people will prosper. The enemy would take Israel into captivity but the enemy would not stand. In fact the enemy continues to subdivide against itself. In fact the gates of hell shall not prevail.
God is our rock, our fortress and our deliverer. We can come to a place of rest knowing who God is in our life but also come to a time of praising God. No one lives perfectly, even King David would loose some of his kingdom because of sin, but God also restored David to his authority with the people that would hear him. I believe those people knew not only who David was but also knew that God had forgiven them to for many things.
Our purity of faith is to learn to trust in a living God to know his power in our life. To know what it means to trust in him as we journey with God. It is a learning process but yet God word is tested and assured over the generations that he is worthy to be trust, to be adore, and to be worshipped. Can you say this morning the Lord is my Rock, The Lord is My Fortress and the Lord is my deliverer. He has through faith delivered you from the pit of hell. Yet he can be your deliverer through out life in other situations. Noah found only grace but salvation with obedience to God's word. Peter in chains found himself set free. We know on faith in Jesus we have been set free from the sins of the world, and God's fortress surrounds us and his Spirit teaches us how to live. If we keep what he tells us by obedience then we protected in this life as well. Does not mean we do not go through tribulation but our life be like Joseph thrown in prison to one day rule in the land of Egypt.
Dear Heavenly Father, you are my rock, my fortress and my deliver. Help me to obey your word and to strive to obey you, as I continue in faith in you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
