Precious Faith 6/29/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris2 Peter 1:1-11 KJV
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Where does our knowledge of God really come from, our precious faith in God. We can read scripture and believe all things writen down, but what is writen is not real until our own testimony of faith emerges with the transformation of God's power in our own life. We are transformed not to allow lust of the world to corrupt us, we learn patience through knowledge of God. We learn to be kind or kinder with sibling love. Because of these things we do bare fruit. As I am writing this I hope a conversation I had the other day bares fruit because it was done out of love. Yet you never know what words or actions a believer performs how it will effect another. The other day my husband corrected me on something I said, only for me to think now he correcting me where I had corrected him for a while. Correction wearing off on each other to help improve upon who we are as people in general, but also a testimony of faith of how God transform our thinking to when we fail the devil pricks our heels. Reminding us we were once the opposer and now in need of a reminder. That this is area is a stumbling stone in faith that God needs truly to remove out of our hearts and brains.
To see one react as we might have a long time ago to a matter is aggravating, and is often the story of how did we finally break the odds. In reality maybe we never did, it still in the receases of our heart. To say things like it will be okay, is like asking where is the problem. The temptation to react to act, to be who we once were stiffled by memories of it all worked out did it not, so do not let this problem bother you. Then the reality is to pray, because in truth no matter how much we strive to perfect ourselves as human being we can not in this world hold back our humanity no matter how discipline realy are. As humans, we will eventually bust outside our proper state of being because it is proper. Prayer does something proper ettiquette does not do. God does through prayer something proper ettiquette and proper thinking does not do. It changes the person from within as they learn to yield to God. Learn to yield to Christ way of thinking, to his words of peace, patience, joy, love and hope. Christ's words of faith and teaching of who he is as well as who his Father is and the Holy Spirit began to change the world in the opinion of God.
Holy Spirit warns us to remain viligiant despite our need to lash out, to fight against adversity, to stand against abuse instead taking our licks within the world of abuse for the sake of Christ. To bite our lip and say God's will be done, though I think man wants his will inacted in my cross. Man's desire was to crucify Jesus because he had begun the desire of the people to march into battle to overcome while the religious leaders of the people wanted peace. I do not doubt that in this Capital insurrection or even in Russia uprising we seen recently that some that do not want war in their heart want whats best for their country. Meaning what exactly, they want victory and power but they want it peacefully if possible. They want to have their cake and eat it too. However in Christ day it seems with all that Christ had to offer the people to have physical victory in the land of opposition, it was not coming because to many could not see the victory Christ could of had if the rebellion had fully occurred. Nor did anyone understand the cross was about spiritual victory. Victory that God was going to win despite the punishment of the people. God allowed the cross, but he showed mankind they could not keep Christ or the will of God in the grave. Will of God would still spring forth despite what man tried to do. God was prepared to allow the beating and the cross, to prove his point.
Has anyone wonder bout the Israelites as many as they were, why they continue to follow Moses in the wilderness? God's will was to be accomplished in his people. The knowledge of God must reign in the earth among God's people in order for it to be known, so God's people must accomplish his will despite how it effects the world. God is able to tell man about him without us. Hopefully those in the world will see the knowledge of God through testimony and his word and desire the same hope of his people. Rahab heard Israel was outside her camp and had believed the stories of witnesses that come through her village of Jericho, and yet when she found the spies and heard them talk, she knew she had to protect them because she believed in the God they served. In exchange for their protection they protected her.
The move of God on testimony alone rising in the heart of people desiring to have hope coming to pass through redemption. God's people do not make sense to the world. They obey God and what thought to be impossible becomes possible and accomplished by the power of God. Yet people wonder how can they survive this way because they are blind to what the truth and promise of God when God's people obey his voice, and his call.
We gain knowledge of God through experience of faith and by his God's word, but without experience God would we continue to believe the Bible? Probably not. If God was dormant for a time in the world would any believer believe. God can not be dormant in our world because of the things in the world he created and put into motion. He is ever present in our world even if we do not understand this and God seems far from us, in reality spiritually we are far from him. Where can we go from God's Spirit? He is able to beat us to the sea shore, and compasses around us and live within our heart. Yet we fail to see him there because we are dwelling on ourselves, other, and things of our world. We literally are walking as believers with God with him carrying us in the storm, with his footprints beside ours even when we are out of step with his. God is working in our life to reach the finishline of our faith in him. We must trust him to help us to reach the finish line. We have to ask Jesus into our hearts and follow in his footsteps carrying the cross God has designed for us to carry. Knowing when we reach the finish line we have a home in glory. Christ will lead us to Victory. Christ is the only way. The pathway of hope set before us upon salvation.
The trials of our faith learning to be patience, to be long suffering, to be kind and gentle comes with God's grace. There time we must be tough to fight like a warrior in faith, and times we need to be humble as we bow to our King(Jesus). God is the supplier ot the knowledge we need to hold to faith and to stand firm in our faith. The Bible itself if we read will transform anyone to belief in at least a few words of it. Yet it takes the Spirit of God to do transform a person to be a believer in need of a Savior. See the devil believes and trembles and continues in sin. The believer trembles and arises in new life and faith in Christ daily. Our fear as believer is reverence of understanding who God is and having received knowledge through the witness and testimony of faith, we desire to strive and to run the race of faith set before us as believers.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for providing the knowledge to each believer that they need in their life to keep them focused on the prize to come, which is eternity with you. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 KJV
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
