The Spirit Of Christ 6/27/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Peter 1:1-25 KJV
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
As new born babies we often want to understand alot of the changes in our own heart of how it is changing. When we receive Christ and the Holy Spirit into our heart we need to look at the origin of man with the Holy Spirit indwelling the prophets. The prophets by the same Spirit within them that testified of his word since the time and time past of his work from even his word in the heart, testifying of scrolls/rock writings repeating these thing. Meaning something was occuring within their soul as they prophesied the events to come not because of what they seen in the past but what God revealed to them by the Spirit of the future. And knowledge it was God's doing.
As a child I knew we were moving even before my parents spoke those words to my sister or I, why, because the Lord almost spoke to me about the move ahead. Life is truly a journey but the journey of faith being much more then teaching of the past but teaching of the future to come. Peter in his letter had an awesome job as leader of the church to go about doing one thing explaining about things that were new not just to gentiles but even to the jews that were now Christians. They were experiencing things of the Old Prophets and it came without education but the Spirit of God. There are things in our being that we know but can not fully grasp as believers in Christ until they come to fruition. Until they unfold and are fully revealed to us by God's Spirit.
The same Spirit that was in Old Prophets anointed and chosen by God is the same Spirit that lives in the believers heart upon salvation, and knowledge of the Holy Spirit. Christ Spirit and the Holy Spirit being one and the same. The Spirit of Christ being the same as God's Spirit for the Holy Spirit is part of the triune Godhead. All parts interacting with each other as one and being one manifested to us and in us as believers. That same Spirit that tells us that Jesus is coming back is the same Spirit that testified to the Prophets of the Old Testament of his coming. Some of us are not ready to receive all that he as to tell us about his second coming. Is that okay. When we are new to the ways of God, His Spirit is new to us, we going to have question but they need to be directed to God on somethings. I can preach to you about it easily read and understood about God, but I can not show tell you how God going to direct your Spirit to go or to do. We got some ministers in wolves clothing trying to prophesy direction into your life, as far as ministry. People know by your work, you volunteer efforts in the church and so forth the training you have already received by man and not always the Spirit of God. There is training ground by the Spirit of God. Yet until we recognize it has God's Spirit leading we will never learn to listen to God. The Prophet Samuel left by his mother with the Prophet Eli, learn that God was talking to him, when he was lying on his bed and God spoke and Samuel went to see Eli and ask what was he wanting only for Eli finally to tell him that it must be God talking to him and to tell God he was listening. (Story in I Samuel). It is the old time prophets that help many Christians to understand God ability to speak to them by his Spirit, but it is the New Testament that helps us understand by the Spirit about the New Covenant about him writing his laws on our heart.
We learn to obey his word for we are judged by our works, not the judgment of sinners. Are works are judged by whether they bear fruit of faith or fruit of the world. The fruit of the world will perish and the fruit of faith will continue on and not be works of destruction. Our works will be tried by fire, meaning the works of faith will be purified. It like taking a piece of silver that is tarnished and taking polish to it to remove the impurities from it. Or taking tin and melting it in a pot on open fire to be able to remove the impurities from it. As Christians, God wants to refine us by the fire of the Holy Spirit through his baptism of faith, not by water but by his power and his word. Christ, in begining of the Gospels according John the Baptist, would baptize with fire, not with water, though his disciples baptized with water during his ministry. There is a reoccuring purging of dross from our faith that occurs after salvation. It is to purged our sin from us to the point it will hopefully not tarnish us again.
As believers of faith we learn to walk by the Spirit of God. God wants that relationship with you. We have to want that relationship of faith. We have to be willingly allow God to mold us into people he wants us to be. We have to allow God to be the potter in our life and not allow the world to mold us how they think we should be. Only way to do that is take time ot be with God on a daily bases. To pull yourself aside and sit down and open up God's word and read it. If you can not read no problem God's Spirit is still going to direct you has you develop your prayer life. As we learn to pray without ceasing, we learn that the Holy Spirit intercedes when we are not thinking about prayer, by his correction to our hearts when we are in error. No one is to literally pray 24/7, but be ready to hear and obey God 24/7. Even if it to get up in the middle of the night to pray. We have to be willing to listen. God woke me in the middle of the night to praise him, and I wanted to sleep, I got up without questioning God about it, but I could not find one word of praise not even within me. I began to thank God after I sat for an hour, not knowing how to praise God after being absents from praising God. It was has if my faith was about to blow out with inability to praise God, and I found myself seeking the ability to praise him. I would of much rather been a sleep at one point, but I remain in the room I had gone to pray in and looking for praises in his word, I could not find anything that sounded like a praise. I then began to thank God.
There is times in ou faith, we may feel weak and unstable, but God is able to awaken us from the dead state to bring forth hope in our own life and the life of others. God is able to move in your life, but are you willing to wait on God's timing. We need to wait on God's timing for his purpose and glory. To know that same Spirit that spoke to old time women and men is in each of us as believers are precious. We are not God, his Spirit comes and dines with our Spirit speaking of both past and present, along with our future. We must trust him to show direction in our life. Living for Jesus is important. We are originally cleansed by Christ blood, but the santification process after salvation comes with the purging with fire by Christ and the Holy Spirit, after receiving Christ as Lord and Savior. The order of things is important here. We must first be willing to receive Jesus into our heart before the Holy Spirit can purge our life. Otherwise man going to be purging you into submission to their laws that are not always God's laws. Either God will tame you or the world will try to by being politically correct. Not even politicians are politically correct.
Dear Heavenly Father, may your Spirit arise in our hearts to where we are so intune to your word that we obey it without question, even when we are not always desiring too. Enable us to desire and to follow your will for our life. Teach us to walk by your Spirit as you establish the laws that you write on walls of our hearts and table in our heart, to purge us to victory in Christ Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
Zechariah 13:9 KJV
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
