Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 John 1:1-4 KJV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Seeing God in Old Testament in Exodus 24 after the blood covenant was applied after the reading of the word of God. Not until chapter 32 do we see the breaking of the blood covenant with the worship of idols. God speaking, God coming down and dinning with the people of Israel in chapter 24 was not enough to make Israel wait upon the Lord. They had seen the word and beheld it with their eyes and the blood was applied to form the covenenat between Israel and God to keep his commandments. Blood covenant being sprinkled on the writen word and the people making a commitment to follow God's word. The blood application being the bridge the cost given that is broken without the sacrifices no man would live. They even touch the covenant but their action betrayed Israel.

How long does it take for any child to turn away from their own father and go about their own thinking. My father passed along an antique wooden drill to me the other day, a special air loom because it was right of passage of being allowed to use some of my father tools on his work bench. Though I was never allowed to use many of his tools it was one I was allowed to use. Oh how so I wanted to take and use those tools on his bench, but not enough so to put alot of effort in profecting drilling holes, though drilling is a simple task not hard to perfect. I so badly wanted to change the drill for the electric saw and not the hand saw. A few years ago I learned why dad did not allow me to use electric tools. It not that i could not learn to use them, I am not careful enough when using to keep from nearing cutting off body parts. The concentrations just is not there. I took a circular saw of my husband to cut a piece of wood and was doing fine til I wanted to take my leg and help press the saw through the wood that was being cut about at knee heighth. As I felt air of the blade close to my leg I remember this is sharp, better not use the leg just be patient and let it cut. Instincts said push the saw with leg to help control it. Those who are familiar enough with tools unless you are a peraon that only use your feet because you have no hands do not use another body part when cutting a piece of wood beside your hands on the saw. Fortunately the idea that the saw was about to inflict pain made me quit moving the leg to press forward the saw. The fact and point is my dad had repeatly showed me how to use tools. I knew better, but it was moment I try to follow my own instincts almost cost me my leg. Was my husband watching me cut the wood of course not, or I would lost my priviledge of him allowing me to use his tools very quickly. The dumb things we do to ourselves will it cost us in our faith.

Israel sinned against God after so many days by asking Aaron to make them idol of calf. The blood had been applied because they heard the law but the minute the Moses their leader was to long in returning, they were ready to foresake the God of those laws they agreed too. How many people still had their church after the pandemic? How many still had faith after so long await. I watched on video young lady praying even from the hospital bed and even after being released from the hospital she continue to experience pain and continued to pray. Someone suggest a simple remedy to help with her pain and finally she tried it and it worked for her. On stage it easy to pray but what about behind close doors as a believer. We should be able to pray even when alone. Even when the world is not watching.

Israel was not willing to obey God with the Prophet Moses, the word not fully grasp or the value not fully understood that they would make the laws their own in their own heart. The covenant not being enough. Disciples at the time of Christ had not only seen him, but had talked with him as Israel elders had with God over simple meal together. It was not enough for Israel to dine and to be in the presence of God to hold them to the word/law of God. How many of us get saved and experience the joy of the Lord in our heart upon salvation, but as time passes that joy of salvation fads to loose site of the joy of the Lord. How many year the word of God only for it to grow sadly dim without others of faith around us. How many of us loose our hope because we undertand not that the word must be applied to our life after Christ blood is applied to our soul.

How many choose their own pathway after salvation? The answer unclear, but those that hold on know the preciousness of the blood of covenant being applied to their hearts through the cross of Jesus find faith and hope assured. God allows his word to be laid down for it to rise back up in our heart. Sometimes we have to be blind before we can see the truth of God's word. Sometimes we have to fail in our faith with God to understand his forgiveness is for always. Sometimes in our backslidden state is where we learn the true value of Jesus being in our life as he takes us and draws us as a lamb that ran away from the herd. He takes us in our failing and reshapes us into the image of his Son.

Israel had fellowship with God and still was ready to sacrifice it all not realizing God was not a God of one person in leadership but needed to be God in the heart of all of the people to be able to lead them effectively. As believers whether in church or not if we obey the Spirit of God in our daily life we become obedient to God through his word. His word manifesting and being tangible in our life, not just as disciples experience Jesus, but as we experience faith in Christ we gain tangible hope through out our life time that spurs us on to being able to believe in Christ our eternal hope for eternity. God is not just something you pick up on and are a jack of all religions, he is a God of one faith, one Lord and one hope. He is the God that established his law to rule and then allow the law to come in the flesh as Jesus and his word going forth in prophesy by His Spirit. The Spirit of God will teach you the need of Jesus through out your whole life, to teach you the very things that is in God's word.

When we obey Christ teachings and believe in him something wonderful happens God becomes our Father through faith in is Son. He guides us in truth of the word to help us live a life pleasing to him. God being silent do not worry, wait! Wait for the moment God speaks. Go about your daily life and wait on his speaking to your heart. If God is speaking listen. God going to move in your life the way he has many people.

Israel could not wait on God and the God they chose was not a solution and that solution did not have answer only dead silence that could not respond to their questions, or give instruction beyond man's instruction. The evidence of the reality of God was not enough for Israel. Yet the word became real when Moses broke the tablet of stone and began to have those killed that bowed to calf. Yes Moses had even stop God from destroying, never imagining the first commandment of no other gods before him would be broken in the valley by Israel.

How many of us fall to the wayside only for God's word to prick our hearts and return us to his loving embrace. How God takes us in a backslidden state and desires still to restore us. Many of us with never bow to idol, but unbelief is just as bad. It takes time to develop our relationship with God, but even a longer time to understand that road of faith is the most precious thing as believer we have. A tangible unmoveable faith in a living God.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to believe in you, believe in your Son and the tangible unmoveable hope. Remind us though we may falter, you are there to pick us up, when we find you silent you have a way of holding us to our faith. Help us to be willing to hear your Word and to obey. Help us wait in your silence, to hold to your word, In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Exodus 24:1-12 KJV
1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.
6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

Exodus 32:1 KJV
1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
