Do You Love The One That Begat 6/15/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 John 5:1-8 KJV
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
A relationship between Father, Son and Daughter is a special bond that can not be undone. However there many things that divide families and even relationships that bond that is developed in growing up years that hopefully last, why because it is a memory that last even though the heart breaks in children's lives as father's cut the cords to them to make their children strong. The bond of time spent together even if it only a little time. The time of reading a bed time story, or going out to a lake or river to fish or ride a boat, may bring back joyful occasions. Fatherhood itself is a lot of work. Yet if the bond is never formed then it is a broken state of affairs because the child feels left alone and abandoned. Father of abuse can be no more the father of the offspring though they were begotten. Father's being more often the role model that allows the child to stretch their wings without thinking of consequences to their action as they climb far above their own heighth. Father thinking I did stupid stuff as a child, it won't hurt them, it sure did not hurt me. Never thinking of the danger a child truly might be in, but the arms of father is often ready to catch to the mother's surprise. Reason being the offspring of the father are precious to the father, who willing to give all to their children and family in due time. Yet not willing to give to a child of continual disobedience or irresponsibility. The concept of other caring for other children means one must probably care about the parents of the child, not necessarily. There many people that love Jesus, but understand who God is but they do not love God back. The bond of God and man severed by punishment and the unwillingness to obey God. Bond between man and God being reunited by his Son.
Let's think on Noah, and the ark, how much did the people hate God at this point in history and yet Noah and his family loved God and sacrificed outside the ark after reaching dry land. Abraham willing to sacrifice the choice portion of land to his nephew and yet his nephew love for Abraham shown when he choose the best part for his family forsaken Abraham in a since by choosing the golden path of what looked to be open green field and good pasture only to be a land filled with harlots of God. People with the knowledge of God but living in disobedience to God. Abraham would take bad pasture land and find good people who gave him a piece of land for his very own. The road that appears glorious often is not. Though Abraham protection was on Lot and his family, Lot's family living in a world of sin would follow the world ways instead of God.
The relationship of children to parents or elders show many rebellious children, and yet the few that were obedient to their parents and their life style found the blessings of God in their life. Eli would take Samuel in like a son, but his own sons were corrupt. Samuel would follow in the ways of Eli, who helped him recognize that God was speaking to him. God relationship with his Son was of old, because of him being the word of God. Yet he came into the world as flesh and blood by that same word, begotten by the Father(God). Many people love the New Testament but they see the Old Testament a book of God's wrath. Yet God's wrath is talked about in Revelations. God's wrath to come was talked about by Jesus. This God coming looking like an abuser more then a God of love. Yet in reality he is a God of correction and compassion for his people that will believe Jew or Gentile.
God is a God of love. It only because of his love that Jesus was sent to us to teach us how to live. To teach us God still loved men and women. That God still had compassion on his people. That God would protected his people. God still was the healing God in the Old Testament not just the New Testament. David's psalms in Psalms 103 declared he healed all his diseases. Meaning David experience illness like everyone else. Healing took place through the prophets in the believers life and obedience to the instruction given to the prophet from God like in the story of the Gentile Naman. Naman promised to worship God the rest of his life because of the miracle he did in his life, however he ask for mercy as he had to enter the idol temple of his master. God's protection of his people going into exile. Yet people see God's wrath and tremble in the Old Testament because they are not listening to all the stories there of God redemption by obedience to his word. We see a relationship not the stage. Meaning Christ was teaching and preaching and people gather and healing took place. People either followed or went on their merry way in faith in Jesus and God. Images of people loving God through sacrifices and offerings they gave to God out of obedience to him. Rejection of God by evil men is equally displayed in the Old Testament and only seen in the book of Acts and some what in the letters as people were facing persecution of the brethern and sisters of faith.
To call God Father, we recognize there is offspring or that we are his offspring by faith. God begat Jesus. Jesus was the begotten Son of God. God was the begat of Jesus. First John 5:1 says if you love Jesus you love the begat, who is the Father. This is also something Christ also spoke about in the book of John. All the books of John's writting tells If you love Jesus you will obey God. Now if you are of the tribe not of Israel it might be hard to see God as a God of love but there were Gentile conversions including Ruth. Ruth Love Naomi God and her people. Ruth was willing to work hard and love. Was willing to serve the God of Israel in obedience to her mother in law. Esther love God and obeyed the King of her exile and God protected her as wife of this gentile king.
Obedience to God was important in Old Testament and in the New Testament letters. Bible is not just about God's love or us loving God back, but showing God we love him through our obedience to him. We can obey God out of fear of God or out of love for God. God sometimes allows us to fear him so we can recognize to love God is alot simplier and blessings flow with loving God. Blessing that flow from fear does not produce a lasting relationship with God, only a recognizing that blessing come from obeying what God's word says. Loving God establishes God's blessing into eternity, because of Faith in God and his word. And his word became flesh and our faith came to believe in his Son, because of all we seen he could do including rising from the grave. God allowing man to correct his Son who they knew not, and God showing he can forgive and that he loved us because he was willing to redeem us that believed in him and his Son. To love God is to obey his word. His word being Jesus, we believe and trust in his word and hold to our faith in Christ who came in human flesht o redeem us.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to obey you. Help us to believe not only in you but your Son your word that came by your command in human flesh to redeem us that were under the yoke of the law of man and not God. We love you because your word is precious to us. Without you Lord there is no Son. Thank you for redeem us from the yoke of the law of man unto salvation to the law of faith. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: John 1:1 KJV
