Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 22:16-20 KJV
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
The reminder of our faith in Christ and the New Covenant that came through the cross of Jesus, from the beating he took to the nail scarred hands, and through the resurrection of Jesus. The reminder of the covenant would come with wine divide symbolizing the blood of Jesus shed for us and sprinkled/cover us. The bread broken for you and I to remind us and symbolizes that his body was given for each of us not only throught death on the cross and resurrection, but his life blood was pour out for you and me to cover our sin. His covenant coming through his ministry of faith, love and hope for eternity through his years of living in the flesh servicing us, beyond and before the cross. This is a good time in this series to write about the reminder of the covenant coming by Christ cross, because it reflection on many things this month and last month that we already gone over. From the blood sprinkiling of sacrifice on the altar, to Christ suffering and cross as his blood pour out for you and I.
I keeping this short because in truth the Lord Supper is something to be meditated on and remember. It is something all Christian churches do have sometime during the year and some every Sunday. It a time of self reflection whether we living up to the new covenant through Christ Jesus, as a believer and if not then we need to ask how can we change and what do we has indvidual need to do to carry our own cross for Jesus by sharing his love for us. and loving others. That his gift of love and eternal hope came through his cross. Our part of faith is to share the love of Christ sprinkling others with his blood giving them the knowledge and security of eternal life through faith in Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to carry our cross to love even when it hurts, being reminded of your suffering for us through the cross and resurrection. That you gave us a reminder of your New Testament Covenant of your sacrifice and the reminder of the covering by the blood, and body that by this we are redeem for eternity if we will only believe. Help us to believe in you daily for life time and forgive us of our sins, in Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 KJV
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
